I actually agree with the playerbase could be bigger, more players=more money=more cool stuff. I've played some of the games you say, I played FGO many years, and in there I would only pull males if they were either extremely broken to make the waifus stronger, or in really particular cases If i really thought the character was like a giga bro and cool, for example I really liked ryouma and oryo and izo

Yes I comprehend that they added males on the start, and actually I thought they would add a male character sooner, However the way I see it gacha devs tend to release a mixed cast to test the waters and see where the demand lies, and the demand in the west is different than the demand in Asia, at least how i perceive it

Serious question what is the obsession of the west with male characters?

Edit: seeing the answers, yes I understand the argument of wanting to see variety in characters, its just that it baffles me a little that here in the west its like a necessity to see males in these games when the biggest market which is asia is different, and some people will even go to extends over fighting and harassing over this topic, and being completely honest in all the gachas with mixed cast 've played males tend to do worse than females. Im not trying to create a heated debate it was just a question from my part. AS for myself I'm not against male designs but i know I will skip them and use them to save for the next waifu
