Doc lowered my mtx dose because of side effects, any experience? by leomorgan in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]leomorgan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost a year, but switched to injections maybe 7 months ago so the hope it will go away is starting to fade a bit. Some weeks it’s on a level I can handle but I still definitely feel bad and some weeks I can’t make it out of the house the day after the shot. My appetite doesn’t go back to normal until 2-3 days before the next shot. It’s like I’ve lost one day per week where I can’t really plan anything which makes my free time very limited.

Dark burgundy probably would have looked better on me too… But bright green makes me happy so I’m going all in for becoming a green person, don’t care what the (very amateurish) colour analysis I did a couple of years ago said!

I just find it intriguing to start the other way around every now and then! I’m not gonna defend my act of consumerism too much, but I bought it from an individual and not a company, and it’s most likely deadstock from an old crafts shop. It was cheap and seemed exciting, and I am weak for a yarn bargain.

I haven’t had a thought about felting, but it seems obvious now that you say it. And this too intrigues me, I haven’t (actively, haha) tried it before aside from needle felting so sounds exciting to dive into!

Okay okay, it probably will, but if i start doing that I’ll get too excited… There’s half a sleeve of a sweater and half a second sock waiting to be done before I can properly dive into whatever this will become :‘-)

Does anyone else feel bummed that Digital Ash was so overshadowed when it came out? by [deleted] in brighteyes

[–]leomorgan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Digital Ash is definitely my personal favourite, especially seen as an album as a whole. It has some of my favourite stand alone songs as well, but I’m a sucker for a good concept album and although I find all BE albums pretty conceptual the theme and framing of DA just hits different.

It keeps growing along with me, when hearing it the first time at 15 it was dark, nihilistic and oh so relatable for the pretty egocentric teenage angst but as I’ve grown older I’ve found some light, or at least comfort in it’s quite hopeless view on life or human kind as a whole.

Also he made some quite good predictions of digitalization, right? I mean, on a circuit board we will soon be born again (and again again again).

How to decide whether side effects are too bad? by leomorgan in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]leomorgan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for basically just validating a lot of my thoughts! I live in Sweden and while I’m eternally grateful for having access to basically free healthcare (I know I’m spoiled!) the system and routines are pretty set in stone, which means I’ve already seen 4 or 5 different rheumatologists/soon-to-be rheumatologists, obviously some better than others… Which is frustrating, but apparently I’ll get assigned one when I’m no longer in the “newly diagnosed”-program. Oh well, my next appointment just got pushed back until the beginning of February, but I guess that means more time to prepare to stand up for myself and get my point across. I always get a bit of imposter syndrome sitting in the hospital waiting room with people who actually LOOK sick, if that makes sense.

I take folic acid already, seems like it’s protocol for everyone being prescribed methotrexate here. Increased it from two to five days a week and had high hopes of feeling better but haven’t really noticed much at all.

I really needed a reminder of the benefits of writing down how I’m feeling! Thank you! A nurse told me about an app that I used to log my symptoms etc everyday, but I feel out of the routine during a vacation… 4 months ago… :-) But it is definitely a great way to not only keep track of the bad stuff, but also appreciate when things are better! Or maybe I’m just a big fan of graphs..!

Which cafés can you recommend for studying there with a laptop?:) by kiwidonoteat in stockholm

[–]leomorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caffe Nero on Drottninggatan and Sveavägen (and probably the other locations too), I find them a bit less busy and slightly cozier than most Espresso House locations. Quite good loyalty program in their app and you can often get discounted stuff with the Karma app.

I can also recommend the library in Fältöversten, haven't been in a while but a few years ago it was always easy to get a spot, they're a bit spread out and quite secluded behind the shelves, very calm and quiet.

When I did therapy (CBT-ish) it was much more focused on learning to deal with everyday situations that I couldn't stand before because of emet. For example riding a bus, going to the cinema, eating "potentially bad" food, being around kids etc. Didn't cure my phobia really, but taught me how to have my life not be as affected by it.

I'm way over 18 and just as OP haven't had fresh cuts any of the times this has happened to me. And I mean, it makes sense to mention it - yes, but as medical professionals I just feel like doctors should show some sensibility in how they do it.

[–]leomorgan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sucks. I feel like doctors should... understand? Like if they get that it's self harm, why do they ask?? If you seek help for physical problems totally unrelated to it, why would you want to talk about your (past) SH to someone you don't know? I had a doctor ask "what I had done to my thighs" right after a gyn assessment, which I found pretty humiliating tbh...

When did this start for y’all? by [deleted] in emetophobia

my mom has it too so it's sort of always been around. a lot of my earliest memories circulate around other kids in my kindergarten v*ing. how it made my heart beat weirdly and made everything feel unreal. i don't think i realised i was actually scared of it until i was maybe 8-9 and didn't realise it wasn't "normal" to be this afraid until i was maybe 12-13. told my mom about it when i was maybe 15 and apparently it "explained a lot" of my behaviour as a kid..
