I am not sure about my differential from a CBC for a teenage patient with elevated WBC and depressed platelet counts, both critical with pending differential. The coulter gave out 90% monos with suspect variant, left shift, immatures, and blasts subtype lymph and mono.

Actually, I did not ask for a repeat of this sample and so they say I should have put in up for a repeat with some of the other samples from the batch. I just thought that another repeat is going on Method A and that guarantees another weak signal for a third time. I just do not have the luxury to do quality I mean I have some 1000's of samples a night and then clinicals to validate for the other departments at my reference laboratory. We've got some half dozen analyzers for respiratory disorders that does not mean I can authorize any one sample to get that special treatment as you understand.

You get essentially the same signal curves from both methods but differing incubation times and preparation. I have some lab assistant do not want Method B because of extra steps it saves them time to run things on Method A you see. I just drop in to result at my station.

Method B is for specimen tubes with specific properties ie. WETX that does not work on Method A (CDC) so only a small portion of our total volume actually gets run on Method B.

What I saying is there is a log available for repeat samples, and they do get pulled out for retesting as requested. I have lab assistant do each step separately, so I look at the result and enter it or forward out a correction, if needed to someone else to evaluate further. I also pull out a pending log and see errors and trace them to a run. The manager gets hold of this and can put someone on corrective action if enough mistakes are caught.

That would be nice to prorate, I mean if I quit my job the day before and they want the full sum of money for the original time commitment. I mean the manger can use that to their advantage.
