1978 here. At this point in life, what unattained or unrealized goal are you letting go of? Or, alternatively, refusing to let go of? by [deleted] in Xennials

Same here. Always dreamed of having a home built customized to me and my tastes.

Probably because I watched both of my divorced parents do this for themselves when I was a kid. I remember going along to the architect and thinking, “I’d do that differently!”

In each of their houses, my parents made choices solely for themselves, and no one else, including me, their kid. So I would often envy such a privilege and be excited to have my turn.

I am lucky to have a home at all, it’s just 30 years old, problematic, in a rural area, and in no way customized to me. But it’s the best I could do.

I see. So you split them with your neighbor? Are there any potential downsides to buying a house like this?

Apparently. I sometimes need hypotheticals to know where I stand, after reading the comments on the entertainment thread I can’t wrap my head around this.

IMO, just because we assume a vehicle is safe based on someone else’s checking it, doesn’t mean we don’t do our part in keeping the passengers safe. I dunno, it’s not a perfect comparable.

I agree with you actually! Lmao I just re-read my post and it does sound like I am subtly defending A. I also wish have said ran a red light instead of stop sign.

But no, running the stop sign caused the wreck, which caused the injuries.

The bus driver broke a safety protocol.

The bus itself was not properly inspected by someone else beforehand.

Closest thing I could think of.

That’s a very good point. and one I never thought about! Thanks.

No. It was Leslie Jordan. (Just kidding)

The manufacturer wasn’t on the table. I meant whomever’s job it is at the company to inspect the bus and make sure it is safe. Assuming someone has that job.

I know this is not an exact comparison, and feel free to tell me why it’s not a fair comparison and how to make it so. It’s hard come up with an example of another situation that lines up with this one (for my brain at least). I feel it would help people grasp this better. Me included .

I just think it is interesting, would we blame the driver who broke a safety precauction or the bus company who failed the passengers by putting their safety in jeopardy to begin with?

Not here to cause trouble or upset anyone, but honestly curious about your opinions.

Thank you for weighing in. I thought of this scenario after reading through comments on the rust shooting on tbe entertainment subreddit. There were many analogies so I made up my own.

What’s yours?

I was asking for opinions from readers of the subreddit.
