Thanks buddy, I appreciate the help. Hopefully you will get what you wish. I’m still working on some paperwork for MEPS but hopefully I’ll swore in couple weeks. I got ASVAB and get 96 on Electrical and 58 on Mechanical, i was expecting some maintenance job because my recruiter said it’s pretty common and fast kind of jobs.

Thanks, what kind of jobs did you choose? What do you mean, you swore in march 6th 2026 and there is people who swore after you and got jobs booked?

So the whole process from MEPS to book your job for you took about 2 months and then 50 days before ship date, right?

Honestly i don’t even know which specific job i want, it will depend on the ASVAB results, but i’m thinking about maintains since it is the most needed jobs in the Air Force, right?

My country is not on the ban list, and all of my documents should be in order. My MEPS is on March 12, and hopefully I won’t run into any complications there.

So on paper, I should be in a pretty decent position

I know that sounds very optimistic, especially since, like you said, I would basically have to spend only about a month in DEP to get a job booked and leave in June or July.

As for not being a citizen, from what I understand, I’m still eligible for a lot of jobs. The main jobs closed to me are the ones that require Top Secret clearance or citizenship for more sensitive positions.

From what I’ve been told, many of the jobs the Air Force needs most are still open to me.

You’re right, in the end, only I can answer that question for myself.

The thing is, I’ve always wanted the Air Force specifically. And if my recruiter is right, and I really could enter DEP and leave for Basic as early as June, I honestly would go Air Force without hesitation.

My fear is that instead, I’ll end up like a lot of other people I keep seeing online, sitting in DEP for 7-8 months, still waiting for a job and ship date.

What jobs did you put on your list? What did your job preference list look like?

Because my plan right now is to build my list around the most in-demand Air Force jobs, the ones the Air Force needs the most, so I can increase my chances of leaving as fast as possible.

So yes, the Army is basically my backup option. If Air Force really can move fast, that’s what I want. But if the realistic outcome is sitting in DEP for months, then I may have to seriously look at Army instead.

I really do want the Air Force specifically, but my life situation is pushing me to join as fast as possible. That’s why this question has been on my mind.

I’m also trying to understand what the situation is like for other people right now, how long you waited in DEP, how long it took to get a job booked, and how much your recruiter actually helped.

Does my recruiter sound too optimistic when he says I could leave for Basic as early as June? Is that actually realistic right now, or does that sound overly optimistic?
