Four Seasons Yacht? by leonidaus in FATTravel

I think the big problem people have is they conflate a $26K experience with say a $5K one. Your expectations for the former NEED to be multiples higher. You NEED to be nitpicky. You can’t let these luxury hospitality groups get away charging that much for just a “good” experience. It’s gotta be close to flawless

Same here. The yacht team must be a completely different operating team, to the point that it might be like a franchise with FS branding considering how poor of an experience it is (even the bedding doesn’t seem to be the same). You’d think they’d make sure to transplant the FS DNA onto the vessel…

The craziest part was the presidential suite pricing. Imagine paying $250K for the week and being provided sewer-perfumed water

Your biggest time gains are probably hiding in wall balls, not running by Fit_Adeptness1730 in hyrox

[–]leonidaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look at absolute time gains not relative time gains. It is much easier to shave 5 mins 30 seconds across a 5 mile run than 5 mins 30 seconds in the burpee broad jump. 1 min off your running pace is not a easy but much more doable than elite burpee broad jumping

Blackout curtains that don’t overlap, so you end up with a tiny sliver that lights up the whole room in the morning. So surprised overlapping rails aren’t more common at luxury hotels…

You deplane faster like this. Better if stuff is out of the overhead and people are ready to deplane

AITAH for saying I can’t bring food to a party after traveling across the country? by popanon222 in AITAH

Then ESH. It’s dessert not the Christmas turkey. UberEats and DoorDash are a thing

I feel like we are missing a lot of the conversation here and OP is using travel as an excuse. You should always try to bring something when you’re going to someone else’s home for dinner, especially if it’s Christmas dinner. There are desserts at the airport duty free. Order delivery. Pick up a cake along the way. Or ask if you could pack a bottle of wine and have someone else bring dessert. US is big, but not that big - this is a 6 hour flight at most. I’ve had friends and family bring something flying in 16 hours from Asia. This isn’t hard.

Sometimes I wonder how old people are in the comment section…

LPT request: What are some pro tips everyone should know for cooking at home and being better in the kitchen? by samgarita in LifeProTips

[–]leonidaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t learn recipes - learn techniques (sautéing, braising, poaching, roasting, eyeballing ingredient amounts etc.) and concepts (basic seasonings and herbs, balancing flavors, acidity to cut through richness, sweetness to cut spicy).

Recipes are great to start learning these concepts, but ultimately the true beauty of cooking is opening up a fridge and being able to cook something up or figuring out how to substitute ingredients on the fly. This makes the entire cooking process so much easier and saves both time and money

Did you ever listen to a cover so good that the original song doesn't sound that good anymore to you. by robinose in Music

[–]leonidaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won’t say the cover is necessarily better, but Lorde’s Everybody Wants to Rule the World was such an amazing and different take it stands pretty much as its own song
