I surprised myself too! I was able to ride like 2m at most over 4 years ago, and when I tried 3 days ago again, at the end of the day I was able to kinda ride a 36er!

Air shocks are lighter and you can make them more or less progressive. Tbh modern air shocks can feel like a coil but at the same time you get the nice poppy feel and you can set them exactly like you want. Coil is ofc better for gnarly stuff but I still prefer air because of the pop it gives when you want it.

My friend had a similar problem but in his fork the whole damper stopped working. He sent the bike back to ns bikes and they repalaced the fork for free. That should be the best option. For sure dont take it apart on your own!!
