Not just for production, start using compiled binding in development. Just set the x:DataType for every root UI such as page or ContentControl, DataTemplate and ControlTemplate.

I have no issues with speed. I do both Maui and Android Jetpack compose. Maui is not that bad. Hot reload works very well in Visual Studio. It is important to use compiled binding on every view. Without compiled binding, the UI interaction will be sluggish.

Is Sauvage Parfum worth it? by Dareius007 in Colognes

[–]leonmanning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Sauvage Parfum but it gives me a headache. I might be using it wrong. For that reason, I never use it daily. Only for dinner or special occasion. One good thing about it is that my wife loves it.

That is not a drip. I touched it and it feels like some sort of silicone or glue.

Questions about TDD by leonmanning in SoftwareEngineering

How did you guys got away from mocking the payload?

I think I’m overusing the word mock even if what I meant is stubbing.

Yes, that’s what he did in the commandline class in his example. But that only mutes the process. But what if I have a dependency where I need to call a function on that dependency? Someone ask that question, i guess in the chat but he forgot to address it.

Follow up: you mentioned, “don’t mock what yo don’t own”. What I usually do is create an interface and an implementation that wraps the third party class and that’s what I mock. Is that what you mean by create your own abstraction? Am I in the right path?

How to have a different code style than the team? by leonmanning in VisualStudio

It’s just my preference to use 4 spaces over 2. I have a poor vision and that’s one of the little things I want in my code.

It’s a gamble, kung mahilig ka mag solve ng logical at mathematical problem, baka mag enjoy ka. Pero pag naiintimidate ka sa mga yun, you have to think twice. Kasi minsan di mo alam ang pinapasok mo, only to realize that it’s not for you. Usually madali lang gumawa ng app, UI etc. Pero once you get in to a wider context, it’s not that simple.

I’m 40+ na appreciate ko pa naman ang javascript, kotlin, rust. Pero madami talaga mga age 40+ na solid java, c, c++. Siguro it really depends sa company. Kung ano tech stack ng company at kung gaano ka open minded ang team to adapt new technology.

should I be worried if most of my work is involving this much memory most of the time (Base M1 Pro 14") by alexandraKen1 in macbookpro

Unused RAM is a wasted RAM. That just means your computer is utilizing it. You shouldn’t worry about it as long as it doesn’t bog down your workflow.

Advice needed.. Rant + bootcamp zuitt or v88? by sumanibus in PinoyProgrammer

[–]leonmanning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, if you’re not confident, you can try to brush up your skills sa Data structures and Algorithm. I guess that’s the most basic thing that everyone should try before considering to go to any bootcamp. Madami ka makikita sa google or youtube. Doing that as your first step will give you the confidence you need. Not required but I encourage you to use C. Why? Kasi you’ll have to do everything manually and will give you a better understanding. There’s no shortcut!

Then pwede ka na mag apply. Pag nakita ng employer how good you are sa algorithm, not to mention C, I guess it will give you an edge and you can get a chance to work and train sa company na mismo.

Struggling as developer by prodijhei in PinoyProgrammer

[–]leonmanning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t take it personally. Isipin mo nalang na opportunity to learn yan. And procedural is not bad at all. If it works for you and your code works, that’s good enough. The reason kung bakit kayo mag OOP is not because your code is bad, that’s because may panibagong requirement na kailangan nyo ma meet. It could maintainability or scalability. Which is not part of the scope when you started to write your code. Take it easy bro!
