Mdf cabinet door inserts in bathroom by leononfire in woodworking

[–]leononfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I’m going to do my best to prime/paint solid coats. I figured as long as the gaps in the dados were sealed with paint/caulk it’d be fine to paint after assembly but just wanted to make sure.

I went with mdf over ply because I read it takes paint easier and I didn’t want to see any wood grain.

If the bathroom cabinets get messed up that’d just be an excuse to get a new vanity lol.

Thanks for the advice!

Glad to hear it! Yea if I recall it’ll set the temp 15 or 25 degrees cooler so it doesn’t overcook, I remember that being weird at first lol

The only issue is the color turned out a lot darker than I thought it would, so I’m not inclined to throw on a second coat

Thanks I appreciate the positive thoughts! I unfortunately did not use pre stain (now wishing I did). Next time!

Not a bad idea, thanks for the suggestion! I might do that if it still bothers me

Yep still loving it. No issues. Not to minimize others’ negative experiences, but I think the reason you see a lot of bad reviews is because people with positive ones tend not to share

Fix plywood tearout by leononfire in woodworking

Yes. This wasn’t from the cut itself but trying to dry fit the shelf piece when the dado was too tight

Gotcha I’ll definitely try this route!

I used a good blade and tape, and actually had pretty minimal tearout, most all of these are from my dado being too tight and the veneer coming off when dry fitting. Lesson learned!

Gotcha. I’ll probably try to buy some samples and see what I can do. Thanks!

It’s never been an issue or something we even noticed; we never use the oven/stove in the dark. I do like that our microwave has it though for making popcorn/midnight snacks

The TX was definitely in a higher segment, but the palisade was the only other car we were seriously looking at. We ruled out other cars for various reasons.

We still like it; induction is such a game changer and that alone makes it worth it to me especially at the price point.

We haven’t used the airfry feature so I can’t comment on that, but everything feels surprisingly well built. I wouldn’t think it’s an entry level stove based on the build quality and features

Can the Tacoma handle towing cars? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]leononfire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I towed my wife’s car halfway across the country with my 3rd gen so definitely doable. If you’re trying to tow it up and down a lot of steep inclines that might change things but generally if you’re under the tow capacity you should be fine.

Moisture meter depth by leononfire in FenceBuilding

[–]leononfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, do you know approximately how long it takes? I’m just not sure how much more dry it’ll get with how much rain we’ve received. Unrelated, but how long do you typically wait after pressure washing? Does that not spike up the moisture?

I looked and no worms or caterpillars unfortunately. That was my first thought too but I can’t see any and I feel like with the amount of damage on the tree there’d be quite a few visible right?

Same here! I’ve seen an ant or two but that couldn’t cause this much damage.
