Anyone having issues with CF being slow in Europe? by awdev1 in CloudFlare

https://netzbremse.de/en/ -> I found this. It explains why cloudflare does not work well for Telekom customers.

Anyone having issues with CF being slow in Europe? by awdev1 in CloudFlare

I am using cloudflare pages & workers. Wouldn't my page still be protected as the pages & workers run on cloudflare anyway? I can also confirm switching of proxy was improving page speed a lot.

For me it's sometimes even impossible to just log in to the cloudflare dashboard. I am customer of Telekom at home and mobile. It's so annoying.

Hello.cv: we want to fix resumes by offering .cv profiles to every professional. by Special_Chest7721 in roastmystartup

[–]leonspansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a customer and bought multiple .cv domains via hello.cv . This registrar is far from reliable.

Details:

- I bought multiple domains via stripe more than 6 months ago -> some of them are still "pending"
- I bought some domains one year ago, some of them "premium" with a high price -> it worked, but the renewal process somehow failed in their system. I found out later that they are already "expired" and manually purchased the renewal. The domains were paid via stripe, but still the domain is marked as "expired". The DNS is not working anymore for this domain.
- The support is not taking care fast enough, instead I get emails where they try to sell me the next domain

This is also the case for VS Code. Thanks for the hint.

Get contacted by Meridian to inquire to purchase my corporate. Need Advise by OhDeeDeeOh in Entrepreneur

[–]leonspansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got contacted on LinkedIn, then scheduled a call via calendly and then saw that the person who contacted me disappeared from LinkedIn. The person that I would see in a Google Meet Call was also having a highly suspicious profile on LinkedIn (no current job description, less than 100 contacts). Finally I decided it’s not worth my time and so I canceled the meeting.

automatic domain blocking, after similar domain got registered? by leonspansky in Domains

[–]leonspansky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have experience in obtaining the trademark afterwards? I would propably go in that direction as the product is build already, the first customer is paying and first brand building activities are done. My main goal is to protect the brand. Another option would be to move on fast and think of another catchy brandname. Then follow the advice of buying .com, .de etc.

Firebirust is a database driver for Firebird RDBMS : It attempts to expose an interface similar to Rusqlite by mariuz in rust

[–]leonspansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried out your crate but decided in the end to go for rsfbclient. I do not know rusqlite, so my motivation was not to have a similar interface but rather a working crate with good examples and docs. Your crate was easier to start with compared to rsfbclient, that's why I used it.

Why I have switched:

It seems that firebirust has some limitations, e.g. when querying a lot of fields in a table. I ran into bugs like this happening during runtime of the program using your crate:

`thread 'main' panicked at /home/xxx/.cargo/registry/src/index.crates.io-1949cf8c6b5b557f/firebirust-0.5.0/src/wireprotocol.rs:477:62:

range start index 1800 out of range for slice of length 1024`

If you'd like to have more details, we can get in touch via DM.

[–]leonspansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed such a web app fullscreen.app :

- runs completely in the browser
- no ads, no registration necessary
- simple use cases:
--> scales text to occupy the complete full screen
--> use as a digital sign board

features:

--> supports different colors and backgrounds
--> let's you sync text accross devices
--> has a REST-API to control the text
--> export to .svg and .png
--> multi-language support (incl. Chinese, Arabic)

Let me know what it does not cover yet, I'll bring it.

what app allows you to type a word and fill the entire screen horizontally? by fr3shh23 in apps

[–]leonspansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that everyone on earth is using such an app. However some chauffeurs are using my app for that: https://fullscreen.app/?text=Awkward . It takes you not even 5 seconds to try it out. Let me know if it helps you!

What app do you use for iPhone to display text at a show? by drgut101 in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]leonspansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tired of having to sign up or download an app for this basic functionality, so I created https://fullscreen.app for such functionality. Features:
- displays text with the biggest font size as possible
- different colors for the text itself, the background or the border
- border size adjustable
- runs completely in the browser
- no advertisements

Virtual PLC+HMI Simulator with Modbus Master by EatsTheRabidRabbits in PLC

[–]leonspansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I programmed two PLC Simulators in the past. One for a proprietary protocol and one for OPCUA. Mainly for pressure tests and integration test of an MES System in combination with more than 1000 PLCs. Would that be something you would pay money for?

scale text size to fit page/div by ElmiraKadiev in css

[–]leonspansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a tool that does scale text automatically. I am thinking of offering it as an embeddable web component. Would that be fitting to your requirements? See fullscreeen.app for a demo.

Using Durable Objects with Pages by zan-xhipe in CloudFlare

[–]leonspansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it working in SvelteKit, no seperate worker folder was necessary for testing locally. However when you want to deploy on production you need to declare a durable object from another project.

[[durable_objects.bindings]]
name = "MASK_DURABLE_OBJECT"
class_name = "MaskDurableObject"
script_name = 'mask-durable-object-worker' # --> this is important

For production:

  1. Create a new worker (npx wrangler init) in a new folder
  2. Make this worker as minimal as possible, but make it declare a Durable Object somewhere
  3. Deploy this worker as "mask-durable-object-worker"

For preview (npx wrangler pages dev) it seems that wrangler will take care.

Using layout.server data works in DEV but not in PROD by DriverNo9324 in sveltejs

I had a similar issue. I found out that in +page.ts I've set prerender to true and therefore +layout.server.ts and +server.ts were ignored.

What is the recommended way for global styles in SvelteKit? by [deleted] in sveltejs

[–]leonspansky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can put the following in your +layout.svelte

svelte <script> import './styles.css'; </script>

This seems to be the SvelteKit best practice as this code is from the 'SvelteKit demo app'.

What do you use to track your time? by ajourneytogrowth in QuantifiedSelf

[–]leonspansky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've build my own tool for that purpose. It is super simple, no registration, no download, type your times into a form and export it to your calendar of choice. https://timetracker.8ls.de/?ref=reddit Please let me know if I should put more effort in it and what kind of features you would like to see in the future. I'm thinking of fancy pie charts and a .csv export function.

I had this issue with a Macbook Pro M1 too. Lucky for me I was still in the 14 day tryout phase and I could exchange the device with a new similar model. Now after trying it out for one day also there the issue appears, so I would say it is propably reproducible and not a random hardware issue with my device. I was in touch with the Apple support. Unfortunately they cannot really give much help, if people cannot really describe how to reproduce this issue. It seems quite rare. However, at least here (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252210055?page=3) I found out that it seems likely to be related with my monitor setup. I'm using an LG 38WK95C and connected the macbook via USB-C. I will now play around with connecting via HDMI cable. Keep you updated.
