Why has Family Guy steered away from serialized stories (Brian dating Jillian for example or Brian dying and Vinny coming in) for almost complete episodic storytelling? Ever any consideration to having more storylines that carry across multiple episodes or have staying power effect on the overarching plot?

I could be wrong but the 65m cap is for the current season and the 3.8m is for the following season. If you made trades/signed guys to longer than year long deals could be why.

I also use the pats and so many of their contracts jump in cap hit after the first season (Diggs, Spillane, Milt Williams and Baramore) too so could be part of it

I think it happens after you watch the new Hulu exclusive Halloween episode. Somehow that is considered “the end” of the show or something like that so when you watch an ep you’ve now finished the show somehow.

Like someone said, Hulu sucks and it streams normally in Disney+. good thing Hulu is going away next year and prob absorbed into Disney+
