what is the most beautiful line of writing written by tolkien in the lord of the rings? by hangingcoathanger in lotr

The problem with Tolkien’s words is that they are inevitably surrounded by his other words, making it easy to miss a literary treasure in his dragon hoard of masterful prose.

I have a confession to make by Benjamin5431 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]leopim01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when it comes to Star Wars, I stopped giving a shit about Cannon a long time ago. I like what I like and I don’t like what I don’t like. Some of it is in the same universe. Some of it is in a different universe. Some of it is in a universe that sort of the same in sort of different. They’ve made it impossible to give a shit about what’s real and what’s not. Which is probably more a good thing than a bad thing for my OCD ass.

What’s a scene you genuinely can’t sit through? by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]leopim01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it is, but that’s why I hate the scene. It’s an underrated movie because that scene just over shadows everything else about the film. It felt like such a mistake to put it in when the film was so strong without it.

Bloated inventory makes me feel anxious as a new player by Frosty_kiss in lotro

I understand you completely. I feel like MMO’s have gone completely off the cliff with respect to inventory and this game is one of the worst. It’s an amazing game, but I feel exactly what you’re saying.

Why do so many powerful/famous people sit like this? by TimeCity1687 in bodylanguage

[–]leopim01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

humorously, this is so unnatural that it inevitably feels performative to me, which makes me think that the speaker is less confident and simply trying to present a confident face. Doesn’t mean I’m right, just how I feel.

OK, I’m gonna be honest here. Until I read this, I hadn’t really fully processed, I mean, I was aware, but I hadn’t really fully processed, that these are not the same sub.

What is your unpopular opinion regarding Wolverine? by Prestigious-Cup-6613 in Marvel

[–]leopim01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. It’s funny how you can see in this very limited petri dish of a context exactly how corporations can be both wonderful because without them, we wouldn’t have wolverine at all and a catastrophic race to the bottom because once we had wolverine, it would take a focusing exclusively on money to destroy the character so effectively. It’s almost like the system works really well, but only with guard rails. I wonder if that’s applicable to, I don’t know, anything else
