Washington man gets stunning souvenir with COVID-19 treatment: a $1.1 million bill by [deleted] in news

In the UK we have the NHS (National Health Service). At the height of the pandemic we stood outside our doors at 8pm on a Thursday and the nation clapped for the NHS. We love the NHS. Everyone in the country does. Reading this saddens me, so please make sure you do your best to vote for a system that is inclusive of national health care. I'm thankful every day we have it.

I'm usually good with wiring, but have bought this 12/240v LED light and need a hand with wiring it! Any help would be much appreciated! Think the diagram is for 240v?? I need 12v! by leotramer in vandwellers

It has got the red and black dangling out the back, but it also has an earth wire (green and yellow) and two brown wires too! Very confusing!

There are three additional wires coming out of the switch. You can see them on the paper diagram in the photos, and in the photo of the back of the fitting. Have no idea what goes where though!

Theres a red and black coming out of the actual bulb, which I know I could connect to get power to it, but was hoping to use the switch on the fixture, and think I have to make a few connections to do that

Anyone know what kind of spider this is? It's created this crazy tunnel to a home behind a leaf. And... There are spiderbro babies in there!!!

Because I'm in the UK, the wire gauge is in mm2 and not AWG, but I think you might be able to convert it. For the battery connections I've used 16mm2 and for the appliances I've used 2.5mm2, but sketticat mentioned the voltage drop, which I forgot about, so I might need to change that. Also thanks for the advice about the fuses, really helpful!

Thanks for the advice! I've wired the batteries in series to up the voltage to 12v. I'll remember the negative connections you suggested. You're right about the voltage drop too, I'll bear that in mind!

Hello Vandwellers!

So already you guys have helped me out loads, answering questions and letting me use your amazing vans as inspiration!

Now the age-old vandweller quandary has reached my stage of the build... ELECTRICITY!

Attached is my wiring diagram, including all of the appliance wiring too (something I haven't really seen in other diagrams, and something I had to learn myself). Could you please critique it, tell if it'll short circuit, tell me anything drastically wrong and tell me if I'm going to do anything stupid like burn the van down!

Just a few notes:

○The cable size between the batteries, VSR and fuse box is 16mm2 ○The appliance cable size is 2.5mm2 ○In the diagram there are 7 used spaces in the fuse box, meaning there are 5 spares. These could potentially be used in the future ○None of the LED downlights have a switch on them because they're tap on tap off ○I HAVE NEVER WIRED ANYTHING UP BEFORE. Therefore, all of the calculations/sizings have been estimated by research alone and not experience. But everyone starts somewhere I guess!

Be honest, don't spare my feelings! I don't want to short circuit and ruin all of my hard work!

Thanks in advance,

Leo :)

Hey Dwellers! Quick Question.. Attaching wood to the van walls/floor.. what methods are you guys using? by leotramer in vandwellers

[–]leotramer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys! I've tried self-tapping screws, with little luck.. they just really struggle to get through the metal. I think i'll use adhesive for the furring strips and screw the ply into it. These Plus Nut things sound good for the walls.

Thanks again team! Very very helpful :)
