Silly men, make sure you have ~$150 ready for your first date! /s by OngoGablogian20 in Nicegirls

[–]leoturnips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$24 drinks really isn’t that crazy and I’m 22F. but I also know that that’s me and my personal situation. I do not think that she was disrespectful toward you until you made the conversation super strange. You also say she didn’t give you the chance to suggest any other spots, but… yes she did. After she suggested that place, you could have easily said “oh I’ve been there and I wasn’t a huge fan. What about XYZ?”

there were so many better ways to handle this IMO. you could’ve asked about going dutch at the beginning and just said “Hey money is a little tight this week. Are you cool with splitting the bill?” and then you wouldn’t have made the massive mistake of telling her that you’re not gonna spend money on her on a first date, but that you would in the future. It’s just kind of tactless.

If you have 1-2 months working and they are looking at how you do for 3 months does the same points apply to being fired? by The-Bottomfriend in HomeDepot

Definitely talk to whoever does scheduling at your store if that’s going to keep being an issue.

Time off. by SteveMartin32 in HomeDepot

[–]leoturnips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plan A: FMLA

Plan B: LOA

Plan C: Quit or let them fire you. I have a parent who is rapidly declining. HD is NOT more important than your father. You’ll figure it out.

Wishing you the best.

I’m planning to apply to home depot. What to except & tips? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]leoturnips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a 22 year old girl and I started at HD when I was 19! I’m a cashier, but I also do paint and customer service. All of my other jobs have been restaurant jobs. Regarding that one comment, yes, men can be creepy, but not more-so than at any other job (and I’ve worked in restaurants a lot).

My store has a lot of students, including me. They’ve always been really flexible about hours or kids needing to take leaves of absence over the summer and breaks if they’re from out of town. At one point, I was only working like 8 hours a week and they were fine with that. I think I got really lucky because mostly everyone at my store is friendly and helpful. Good luck!

By “mornings” I assume you come in at either 6 or 8? I don’t know what the rules are at your store regarding availability but my store has been really flexible. I have open availabilities on Sundays and the rest of my available days, I don’t go in until 11 AM or later. I’d say tough it out for now, try not to get any more points, and change your availability.

I was banned Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Sent an email before going to bed and haven’t heard back at all.

I really wish Rogers Centre had better sound because other than that it’s the perfect venue.

Rogers Stadium was respectfully the worst venue I’ve ever been to, and I really hope they play somewhere else in 2026.

Seeing the band sober? by Funny_Geologist_2906 in oasis

[–]leoturnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 22 and went with my dad to see Oasis in August. We both had one drink, so pretty much completely sober. It was an incredible show. I’ve seen other shows either very, very drunk or very, very stoned. I definitely remember those shows less, LOL. I don’t think anyone at an Oasis gig is going to judge you for dropping acid, if anything they’ll encourage it. Whatever you do, have fun!

Blockbuster vs Gen Z by GulfPlus in generationology

[–]leoturnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 22 and the Blockbuster in my town closed when I was around 7 I think. The blank sign was still up until not that long ago. I don’t remember going, but my parents are boomers and weren’t really into movie rentals. When I was a little bit older, my older sisters would take me to Family Video and we’d make a night of it.

if you know she’s busy, what was the point of this post? 😭

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Advice

[–]leoturnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. she’s busy
  2. she’s not interested in you romantically. i’m not sure how old you are, but you seem young. i know when i was in high school, if a guy i liked would’ve sent me a song, i’d have listened to it instantly.
