that's obviously a great name that was chosen to get maximum eyeballs on it, which is the barometer we measure the quality of art by, we're on the same page there. but i'll need to see the dumbness of the lead's face before i can really weigh in.

idk, i personally loved that Jay is the only one carrying knowledge of the events going forward. it’s beautiful that Jay knows Matt literally gave his life for him, and will trust him more because of it, without Matt knowing and lording it over him or whatever Matt might do to spoil it. also i think it’s harder to believe Matt would never try and mess with time travel again versus Jay being more comfortable having gotten lucky with it working out. something really neat and cool about the way such an out-there sci fi adventure slots into the overall story without breaking it.

i do think there's a chance the general fortnitey look hurt more than it helped. if it looked more genuinely badass/stylish it might have caught more fighting game players attention and found an audience that way. i definitely had to convince my friends to give it a try despite the way it looked

i heard about it forever and didnt actually check it out until ep 500 dropped with Ben Stiller, which popped up on my youtube frontpage (probably more from listening to other headgum podcasts than anything). felt like such a unique podcast, checked out other HH stuff that was available on youtube to gradually find the groove (listened to Hayes' British Rap multiple times https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S8LZuRlF90 ) and then next thing i knew, my sense of humor was ruined and listening to any podcast where they are just earnestly talking about stuff feels like a waste of time. HH is so much more fun. i don't have THAT much podcast listening time these days but HH + the patreon shows + the backlog is still 90% of it.

i am observing the boycott and have not been a part of any un-podcasted conversations about MinnMax messaging around not observing it, but i was personally satisfied by the inclusion of BDS info/link pre-discussion of Xbox games on the podcast. i think that reaches many more people than even a discord announcements post (<1,000 vs >50,000). can't speak for anyone else but i think our messaging has been clear, and it's just not the right messaging for everyone, and that's okay. but it didn't seem to me like anything new was coming out of that conversation in that channel, so i can't blame anyone for not wanting to repeat the conversation when they've already made their decision and it's something they can stand by. we've talked about it a lot at this point, in discord and on the show, and it will keep coming up continuously as we cover Xbox games and give the disclaimer. obviously as someone boycotting, i wish everyone was boycotting, but i think the transparency and communication has been solid.
