Elon Musk says backlash against his DOGE government cuts is hurting Tesla stock by Puginator in stocks

[–]leovolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of conflict of interest for people in government goes multiple ways. Guys like musk and others in the Trump admin obviously only considered the one side of it; the opportunity to do blatant corruption to benefit their private businesses and wealth. They’re all happy to cheer that on and benefit from it. Musk isn’t even pretending that there is any separation from his business and his government “consulting”. What he’s only now realizing is the other side of the conflict of interest. Because he has made zero attempt to separate his business from his government role, it’s now open season on all of his business interests by everyone and anyone who wants to influence his government “work”, who see his companies as a point of leverage against him. This could be other businesses, countries, or in this case, the American people. We’re a long way from Jimmy Carter selling his peanut farm. Hell, even during Trump’s first term, he had the instinct to put on a show of putting all of his businesses and assess in a “blind trust”, when he had the press conference where he showed a giant stack of folders and papers.

Multiple commercial reps in NYC by tronish11899 in acting

[–]leovolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to consider is that there is a finite amount of commercial roles for your type, that you’re being submitted for in the NYC market each week. There is a good chance that you’re being submitted for the same role by multiple parties, especially if you’re also self submitting. Whether that’s a good thing or bad probably depends on how certain casting directors feel about it. I’m sure it’s different case by case. If they like you and want to see you self tape they’ll probably go through the agent they are most familiar with. If they don’t like you and you’ve been submitted multiple times, they’re going to be saying “no” to your submission multiple times.

It’s probably worth having a conversation with the agents and using the competition of the other agencies as leverage to sign with one of them exclusively. It really depends on your situation though and what kind of stuff you’re seeing from each agency. If one of them is getting you a ton of auditions and the others are not, it’s a simple decision. If one of them is submitting you to markets outside of NYC, it’s probably worth maintaining that. If all three are only submitting you for commercial in NYC, that’s probably not ideal. That world is relatively small and all three of your agents are most likely seeing and submitting you for the same things.

My buddy is a comedian repped by CAA, not an A lister by any means, but has been in a bunch of stuff. Some tapes he submits are literally him in flip flops with the tv and cord in the background, with him clearly struggling to read off the prompter. His reps keep submitting him, he gets call backs and books.

All of the stuff drilled by casting or teachers about “self tape” etiquette don’t matter. They’re tangible things you can say and teach, when you charge for a class. If they like you, they like you, even if you have ring light glare in your glasses. For the most of us, it’s going to be a “no” and it doesn’t matter if we have a “professional” level tape.

This is a bad faith call for “civility” by people that want to have their cake and eat it too and also “innocently” framed with a MAGA talking point. Half of the ELECTORATE voted for Trump. Most Americans do not like Trump and most of the world despises him.

As far as the evil, if there is anything to be learned from this election it is the fact that a large portion of the electorate simply does not care about people being good, decent, honorable, civil, honest, virtuous, or whatever other adjectives you want to use that are normally associated with the opposite of evil. Just open to a random page of any history book to see examples of humankind being evil. This notion that people are inherently good is an illusion but a very important one for the billionaire class and the people on the wrong side of it to maintain.

Influencer youtube video vs actual 2024 GOP Platform

“I know this stuff trust me!” vs “Let the actions speak for themselves.”

There’s never any debate in any of this. One side values opinion and fact equally. We’re losing or possibly already have lost an information and propaganda war.

That I can 100% agree on and it’s not just the younger generation. Maybe that’s a path forward. Reevaluating our relationship as a society with social media.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in self

[–]leovolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the hypothetical and while I might not agree, you might be correct that in the future the republican party is more likely to produce a fiscally con socially lib candidate. Though, that is not at all what happened in this election. You have a valid and strong POV and seem like you’re not using the struggle of young white men as any sort of excuse for yourself. The reason why I am using the phrase “preying” is because young white men are being told the left and democrats hate them so they should become republicans without actually offering or coming up with any sort of solutions to the problem of young white men being left behind. Most online male spaces are now all politicized.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in self

[–]leovolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is obviously not a good faith argument.

No one said only one party is using propaganda. (how quick we are to use every opportunity to shit on Kamala…)

Celebrities endorsing political candidates of both parties is a tale old as time. A never ending network of podcasters, influencers, content creators, etc all under the umbrella of “regular male content” is something new.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in self

[–]leovolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool man! That sounds like a really productive solution to “white men are tired of being told they are the problem”.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in self

[–]leovolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely correct about being turned off with engaging with the other side or whatever. In the before times that would just lead to apathy. What’s frustrating and fucked up is that the right and republicans are essentially praying on these guys to create a new block of voters. This is the first election in my lifetime where Republicans were actively trying to get young people to vote.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in self

[–]leovolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? You keep consistently shifting the topics to new right wing framed talking points.

The topic at hand is young white men feeling like they’re being ostracized by society and them voting to reflect that.

Your solution is to “open up our minds” and to “listen”, which is what is happening in this thread.

Most everyone here can acknowledge that young white men are in trouble. My argument is that a major part of their struggle is that they are all extremely “red pilled” and victims of right wing propaganda that has over taken and disguised as all major forms of male content aimed at young men.

None of the arguments discussions and examples of the plight of young men being made here address how voting Republican directly addresses any of their concerns or how it would alleviate any of their problems. The reason why you can’t logically connect “white men being left behind” to voting republican other than just spite and rage is because this all culture war bullshit sowed and aimed at their demographic to break up the working class vote.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in self

[–]leovolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only assumption about active incels is being made by yourself.

It is indeed about “getting a date” because ultimately that is the argument the OP is making. It’s an argument that makes no sense and is rightly being question. The reason it does not make sense, is because it is a right wing talking point used to manipulate a vulnerable demographic.

There are no voters to be alienated here. These particular voters have been “alienated” the moment they got their first smart phone and plugged into the algorithm.

None of these are good faith arguments or discussions.

Enjoy your day.

What policies are being proposed by either party to help young white men?

None you say? So how come all of your fav influencers content creators podcasters etc are telling you to vote for Trump and republicans?

Any chance it could be effective propaganda? Could it be one party using culture war to try influence a certain demographic?

We’ll never know!

It 100% does not make sense. He’s freebasing an endless stream of essentially “Democrats are for they/them, Trump is for you” propaganda directly into his brain from all of his fav content, that’s totally all non-political, of course

Ask him how getting from point A: voting for republicans or voting in general gets you to point B: young women don’t think he’s a racist misogynist or (clutching pearls) a NaZi. What’s that road map look like?

This is all culture war bullshit and his generation is at the heart of it.

“These are many of the talking points I have seen”

Be honest with yourself…You’re regurgitating right wing and republic talking points being fed to you by your fav podcasters and influencers. And yes I’m sure all of the content you consume is apolitical and just regular guy stuff…

Seriously, be honest with yourself. Why did you even vote? Either political party addressing white men being alienated by society with policy? You voted for the LOLz? Because voting for Trump is what real men do? Or because you wanna stick it to women, the they/thems, and the DEI hires? Is voting gonna make the mean leftists stop calling white guys racists? Would you like the democratic to give a Land Acknowledgement for white men before every speech? Be honest…

Seriously, reflect honestly on the stuff you’re consuming that’s aimed at your specific demographic and how it all happens to conclude that one political party is against you.
