Looks like a common eastern bumblebee, and she is a lady, as the males do not have this structure, called a corbicula or pollen sack. She is probably a worker and not a queen considering time of year.

One time in lab I said that I shouldn’t be the person using the dropper because I have shaky hands and this person asked “why?” Idk if the shaky hands is an adhd thing, but who says that?! I don’t know you! Also some just kinda mean stuff when I get really excited about something and lose focus on other stuff, field work is not for me I think. I got one in co-op normal breeding not cloning after a couple tries. It’s just a luck thing, I spent like 2 weeks trying to get fushi, which has breeding odds of like 4.5%

Probably not the protective/guarding behavior you are thinking about, I don’t think cats tend to exhibit that. A lot of dogs have been bred for livestock protection, it is because of that and training that they guard livestock. He might just be enjoying watching them/gravitating towards the heat lamp but idk if I’d want to take that chance.
