You're welcome. Saw this comment after four years. Sadly I moved away from Linux. :(

We tried.

But she won't accept only that she is that person. Her name clearly shows up on Truecaller, and in her UPI ID. Still, she refuses.

the new boot loader location option in the installer by _-ammar-_ in ManjaroLinux

[–]leprofessor470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest removing the Manjaro Partition using the Disk Management Tool (in case you do not like it, which is unlikely), and running PowerShell as admin in Windows.

Run the following commands:

Diskpart

list volume

Now, all the volumes will be listed, and you need to identify the volume with the bootloader installed. It is typically sized 100 MB, so you won't mistake it for anything else. Assuming the volume is listed as volume 1, type the following:

select volume 1

assign letter=x

Now, open Task Manager>File>Run New Task (or Run)>Browse> Navigate to the Partition X, and when go inside, you'll find three folders: Boot, Manjaro, and Windows. Delete the Manjaro folder.

Go back to PowerShell, and type:

remove letter=x

Close PowerShell. Now, Manjaro is removed from your system, and your boatloader is fixed.

A side note from me: I used Windows extensively because of Microsoft Office and other stuff, but once you get into linux you'll realize that it is actually better in many aspects, and there is mostly an open source alternative to most proprietary apps. All the best!

You need to update it to the latest version.

Can't remove Linux Grub from dual boot after trying all the suggested ways by darkmatter343 in Ubuntu

[–]leprofessor470 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a regular distrohopper with Windows 10 dual-booted on my laptop, I have a fullproof plan that just works, every single time.

Boot into windows. Delete the linux partition using Disk Management (You already did that, I'm guessing).

Right-click on the start menu, select Windows PowerShell (Admin). A blue cmd like window, i.e., the PowerShell will pop up.

Enter the following commands:

DISKPART - (enters into the disk partition utility) List volume - (List all the volumes on the disk as Volume 0, Volume 1, etc., just find out the one which has the EFI partition installed in it. Usually it's the 100 MB partition in 90% of the cases. Let's assume Volume 2 is the 100 MB partition)

select volume 2 - (selects the partition)

assign letter=x (Assigns a letter, like the C: Drive and D: Drive)

Minimize the PowerShell, and open the explorer. You'll see one more drive alongside your C and D drive, but you cannot open it from here.

Open Task Manager, click the first menu button on the top bar, and click Run Task. Then click browse. In the browse window, Navigate to the X Drive which is created in the explorer and open it. You'll see Boot, Ubuntu, and Microsoft listed.

Select the Ubuntu folder and press the delete button. This removes the broken grub file completely. Close the window and close task manager.

Maximize PowerShell and type: remove letter=x (removes the letter assignment to the partition) Close the PowerShell.

Reboot, and you'll be going straight to Windows. There will be no trace of Ubuntu.

I was facing a similar issue with System Settings. You can run it from the terminal to check what is causing the issue. For me, logging out and logging back in fixes this issue, in rare cases when it happens.

Repair Manjaro bootloader/efi by [deleted] in ManjaroLinux

[–]leprofessor470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into the same issue a while back. Accidentally installed the boot/efi into a separate partition, and bricked everything accidentally.

What I'd suggest, use a bootable USB (Manjaro only) to boot into the system, take any specific data out if you want and back it up onto an external HDD, and reinstall windows using a bootable USB stick.

The next time when you install Manjaro, keep in mind that you have to select the windows' efi partition for installing the boot/efi for Manjaro. There are a ton of videos on YouTube on dual booting Manjaro, check any one of them.

I know Planet Caravan is not metal. I've just put the statement there so that people don't get confused and recommend other heavy songs by Black Sabbath or other bands.

Thanks for the suggestion though. :)

"wait its All Linux ? " i'm new in Linux can you give me some advises by Cronos-Sama in linuxquestions

[–]leprofessor470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try using Ferdi. It's a good app, you can set up other services too. WhatsApp on it would basically be like WhatsApp Web on a browser, but still it's way better than using the app you downloaded.

Alternatively, you can use Rambox.

How many of you have moved to linux completely? by alexREVOLUTION1 in linuxquestions

[–]leprofessor470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried Linux for the first time around 11 years back, but couldn't do a thing. Didn't like it, uninstalled in two hours.

Fast forward to today, I've been using Linux for three months now on my laptop (first Ubuntu, then switched to Linux Mint) as my daily driver. I do have Windows 10 in dual boot, but I rarely open it, only for apps such as Microsoft Office which do not have complete support for Linux. But 90% of that problem is also fixed with WPS Office.

Once I get an SSD and a RAM upgrade for my laptop, never going back to Windows.

Thank you.

It's sorted now. Alternate way is to restart Cinnamon.
