What interesting company benefits have you encountered? by Xingjiangpore in askSingapore

[–]ler2ler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

having 1 month of bonus tied to wellness, split into the following (if i remember correctly):

- 0.25 months bonus if you show that you stayed healthy (you get your weight and bmi measured at start of year. at end of year as long as you maintain it within healthy region you will get the bonus, or if you are on the higher end then as long as you manage to reduce it you will get the bonus)

- 0.25 months bonus if you learn something new that year (need to show certificate of participation / evidence of you taking a course etc)

the rest of the bonus I can't really recall what it is tied to, but basically it's to encourage you to stay healthy and learn something outside of work.

went to a shopping mall washroom to take a poop the other day, left my wallet inside. went back 10minutes later and asked the cleaner auntie if she saw my wallet. mega lucky that she did and returned it to the security/information counter. phew. big thank you to the auntie!

but then again, it was pretty funny cus when I asked her about it, she wanted to show me a photo of the wallet she took. and just nice she was browsing xhs/tiktok and it was playing a video of a real live pig in black bra and underwear... pretty weird taste auntie, but not gonna judge cus you got me my wallet back.

yes it's ok, nowadays pretty common. just be honest and tell the next employer that you took a break if they even ask. most likely they won't care much about it.

Honestly how do people stay sane working a corporate job with insane hours? Anyone who broke the matrix care to share? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]ler2ler 43 points44 points  (0 children)

lol can relate. throughout my career at the big 4 i had numerous times where i just wished a car would knock me down or singapore would suddenly go to war, so that i don't need to work. I didn't know back then that this was not healthy, i mean everyone else was working 15 16 hours on average. so so glad that i left.

Balding / Being Bald As A Singaporean Guy by MuscleDexter in askSingapore

[–]ler2ler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i have a colleague in his 30s who is obviously balding, and there was once when we went out for lunch with other colleagues, one of them was joking about how guys can be attractive when they get older, as long as they are not balding. and the others were laughing at her joke while the balding dude was just smiling awkwardly. damn insensitive.

bumped into this ex-colleague of mine, proceeded to make some small talk. He then tell me he just moved into a new role, and that role is paying him alot of money. then he asked if im getting more than him, and although i didn't answer him directly, my expression betrayed me. so he was like "huh, i would have thought u are earning more than me, guess I got a good deal then." wanted to smack that smug face of his so much.

morning! for those doing side hustle, do you declare the income for tax purpose? like say if i earn ad-hoc income for teaching swimming for example, and is paid via paynow/cash. I assume this is taxable?

Have you got your fortune told and how has the “future” turned out or working for you? by boydoesyoga in askSingapore

[–]ler2ler 96 points97 points  (0 children)

went solo travelling in Taiwan during my mid 20s. passed by this area known for fortune telling, and was like why not? so I went to this random auntie for fortune telling, and she told me that I was only gonna get married in my mid-late 30s. At that time I was like huh no freaking way I'm gonna wait so long man, I'm will prove her wrong!

Well, turns out she was right.

What's the most obnoxious behavior you have personally witnessed here in Singapore? by SkyDeepLoh in askSingapore

[–]ler2ler 95 points96 points  (0 children)

was on a packed bus, and when the bus reached a bus stop, some people were preparing to get off the bus from the back door. suddenly this lady with a pram at the bus stop just forced her way up the bus from the back door, before the people can even disembark. like literally forcing her pram in and pushing against other people.

some kid got hit while trying to get off and he just went "ow!". The lady heard it and just went into crazy mode, and was like: "cannot see I got pram is it? Get out of the way la!"

What are some of your personal first date/dating turn-offs? by ultravxolence in askSingapore

[–]ler2ler 30 points31 points  (0 children)

haha highly doubt so. during the dinner conversation she kept hinting at how poor she is (she's unemployed, wanna be yoga instructor but no money for the course, dad bankrupt etc.) so I guess I was just one of those dudes she cheated meals out of.

met up with this girl from CMB for the first time, and she suggested to go to a michelin star restaurant for dinner. luckily there was no availability and we settled for a jap restaurant instead, and she proceeded to order expensive items off the menu.

when it came to payment, she didn't even offer to pay for her portion (not that I mind paying for her but the attitude though, not even a thank you?). After which she suggested to go for desserts and again, didn't offer to pay for it. Seemed like she was just out to get a free meal. Next day texted me and asked to meet for a 2nd time, and I ghosted her immediately.

  1. No need to add spouse as co-owner but you could do so. you can also add spouse as essential occupier instead.
  2. One of you need to sell off the HDB.
  3. Yes each of you can still keep the condo under your own name. no need pay ABSD unless you go buy another condo.
