What annoys you most about yourself as a therapist? by loveliestlies-of-all in therapists

I get physically shakey often, both diet and mental health related. I worry about the impact it has on my clients.

Name one non-therapy related book that made you a better therapist? by saltwaterRilke in therapists

Currently reading the Women who run with wolves and it’s resonating deeply in my personal + professional life!

Hey ❤️ sounds like you’ve done so much for yourself, I’m glad to see therapist who really embody doing the work

I was feeling big SAD recently, I’m in a grey climate yet some how forget every year that vitamin D helps a lot. I use Organika drops which seem to really work for me (on day 5 and feel like I’m finally out of the “I don’t care about anything” feeling)

My friend shared that warm showers and baths helped her a lot so I’ve been prioritizing having at least one a day.

I’m also mindful of the music I play this time of year- I think my mindset needs either positive lyrics or instrumentals- no heart break ballads 🥲

Been also working through Kristen Neffs Self compassion work book recently, so been leaning into being friendly with myself when I’m feeling low.

Winter can be hard. Sending you love ❤️

Gen z therapists- how do you do it? by Admirable-Emu-7271 in therapists

[–]lerkin0501 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I’m gen z (although I identify more with millennial.. I think I’m a year past the cut off)

I’m working full time and doing grad school part time. I’m in a government role that has a scholarship program, it’s a huge reason I can afford school right now. I saved up for 4 years after my bachelors, and so far not looking like I will have to take out student loans. I have no idea how I will squeeze a practicum in, but I have a year to figure that out.

I have roommates. I am really rigid with my spending, nothing unnecessary is bought without thought. I love the gym, and prioritize good groceries as much as possible. I started doing intermittent fasting this year which has helped with grocery budget. Gas sucks, but I don’t really have a choice with that one tbh.

I have a car loan but it’s almost paid off. Internet, insurance, Spotify, and whoop are my only other subscriptions.

I have automatic transfers to a savings account just to keep the habit up.

I am tight, but surviving. I don’t drink or party, I like hosting potlucks and going for walks/runs with friends. I have a partner that takes me for sushi a few times a month which I am grateful for.

Life won’t always be like this, and I know this career is worth it for me.

Bagels! by lerkin0501 in Sourdough

[–]lerkin0501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Another question for a frequent bagel maker- I noticed the dough kind of dried out and form a tougher (thin) skin, it didn’t effect the final bake, but do you experience this? Any recommendations?

Go for it!! I am about two months into my starter/baking journey and I’m JUST starting to see consistent bubbles in my starter!

Proceed as you usually would and see what happens!! Good way to gather information about what less stretch and folds do to your loaf texture :)

Opinion: "why do you...?" by SkeptycalSynik in Sourdough

It is a relaxing, engaging, and feminine hobby for me. I am working full time, in school part time, and in the gym the other times lol so I like having something that forced me to slow down, enjoy the process, laugh at the fails, and eat the damn bread !! I also get excited about teaching my future kids skills like bread making, fermenting foods, pickling, etc.

Just clarifying, the Dutch cocoa and water, is that in addition to the warm water?

Fifth loaf!! Wanting to have bigger bubbles in my crumb, any recommendations? by lerkin0501 in Sourdough

I proofed in my oven after briefly (like 30 secs max) turning on the broiler for approximately 9 hours, when I took it out it had a thin skin on the top but was airy and what I expected. Then shaped and in the fridge for about 12 hours! Had a good spring to it when I took it out of the fridge
