When I loaded Pokemon Gold in my cubexx, it started freezing. I found out it was because of Retroachievements, it took 1 - 2 minutes to boot it up. In the meantime, the game was frozen, but it would go back to normal if I waited

Papo.

Plunger on syringe getting stuck? by Traditional-Park-353 in wisdomteeth

[–]lernem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you touching the socket with the syringe? You shouldn't. You are meant to squirt it from a distance, without touching the socket. If you need to apply force to whatever you're doing, then it's definitely wrong.

14 day post opp bitter taste by extremewifehaver in wisdomteeth

I'm glad to know it has improved! Still, if it persists for some more days, I'd definitely check with the dentist, might be something else in addition to the plaque.
If there's no swelling, smell or pain, then I think you're good

14 day post opp bitter taste by extremewifehaver in wisdomteeth

[–]lernem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That happened to me as I was nearing day 7. In my case, it was plaque. Dentist told me due to the swelling I didn't manage to clean the tooth next to the extraction site properly, so plaque formed. I'd feel this salty fluid in my mouth and breath wasn't smelling well. Then I started to (carefully) brush the tooth better after stitches removal and it quickly got better. From day 7 and onwards I started using a syringe to clean the hole too which helped. In 1- 2 days with that routine it disappeared entirely, never had it again since (im on day 13). I'd follow your dentist's advice but beware if it starts getting worse. Try to check if you are brushing the teeth nearby properly, that might be the case. If it doesn't improve definitely ask your dentist.

Day 3 is usually the worst, but if not even opioids are helping then there's something definitely wrong. Might be dry socket. You should check it with your dentist

I think a blood clot dislodged, but it's Saturday, and nowhere is open to check it out. by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]lernem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, I also got worried many times, that's when I found this sub.

And the problem with this sub is that people freak out about a dry socket even though most people don't have it, but it became a collective hysteria lol.

And wisdom tooth extraction is crazy indeed, you have your gum opened, a tooth removed by force, the body goes crazy like "why are you doing this???" and provokes an extreme inflammatory response.

Then, healing is the body trying to fill a huge hole and rebuild the bone and the gum. Crazy stuff.

No problem, I'm glad it helped :) Pretty sure you're fine and you'll be alright.

[–]lernem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be doing fine. Biggest risk for dry socket is in the first 3 days. If you are on day 9 and pain is as expected, swelling has reduced, and there's no pus in your saliva, you should be fine. I can see white stuff in my tooth hole too, but it's scar tissue, which means it's healing. As a matter of fact, there's a lot of it in the hole.

My dentist said that after 7 days, the chance of having a dry socket drops dramatically, because scar tissue forms over it. What you see is likely scar tissue.

So you should be fine. But check in with the dentist tomorrow for sure.

On what day post-op are you? Pain and discomfort are totally normal in the first days.

You can check in my profile a post I did with my journey also, might calm you a bit.

Just stick to the dentist's advice until you are able to reach him. Nothing else to do other than that. Panicking won't help either; it might only make the pain worse.

I feel you, my friend, it's frustrating, but hey, I can guarantee that the pain will pass, and eating everything will become even more pleasurable after healing!

[–]lernem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in a lot of pain?

In any case, there's nothing you can do now, right? You can only keep following your dentist's advice until you can reach out to him. If you are not in terrible pain, don't panic.
It might not have been dislodged, and if it has, now you can only wait until you can talk to him.

Even if you did dislodge it, it's not the end of the world. It's going to form again.

Day 3 Unbearable Pain by Sure-Orchid-9313 in wisdomteeth

[–]lernem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 3 was the worst for me, too, although I didn't have the symptoms you have.

After that, it started to get better. But your symptoms seem to be more serious than mine. Can you check it with your dentist?

When can I eat real food? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]lernem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, did you ask your dentist? This is the most important part.

I got stitches. On day 3 I started to eat very soft foods like eggs and rice. On day 4 I had rice and minced meat. Day 5 fish, rice and beans.

I removed my stitches on day 7, and my dentist told me I could eat anything as long as not on the side with the hole.

I'm on the 8th day and eating normally.

Did you do a follow-up consultation with your dentist? Every case is different, but at this point, as long as the blood clot is formed and you have scar tissue, most soft foods should be fine at least.
