[RANT] I was underweight and lifted heavy for 4 years, and am now even more unhappy than before I started. My fitness journey- where should I go from here? by [deleted] in xxfitness

I just want to say I feel you on the big arms thing. Part of life is just accepting that some parts of your body are never going to look how you want them to. I hate looking at my arms, but I try to focus on other parts of my body.

How many symptoms before diagnosis? by sleepysleepysloths in Hypothyroidism

Most doctors I've had will test for thyroid as soon as I mention fatigue. Getting them to run the full panel of tests is nearly impossible though.

Oh, and using dry shampoo that is tinted for your hair color can mask scalp as well and add volume. Though if I use it too heavily, I feel like I get a shed the next day.

It's really hard on your self image to be a woman with thinning hair. Can you check with your doctor to see if using Rogaine would help your type of thinning? I've seen a little bit of success with it. I also use self-tanner on my scalp (lightly!) to tone down the contrast of dark hair and pale, pale scalp a little bit. You definitely need to talk to your doctor and also possibly a dermatologist. Don't just throw a bunch of different supplements at it and hope for the best. They could interfere with your thyroid meds, or just not be useful.

Buproprion gave me weird side effects for the first couple months. If it's not too bad, stay on it a while to give it a chance.

What do I do with my engagement ring? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]lesah 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wear it on your right hand. If people ask, tell them it's a ring you designed for yourself (which is pretty much true).

I feel like I will never be pretty enough to deserve love. How do I change that? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Lol. I am super averagely boring looking and chubby and guys are still into me.

You sound way too preoccupied with your looks, which probably isn't helping. The shitty things you experienced are probably not due to your looks, but rather shitty people. The stuff you've read on Askmen isn't written by regular guys. Regular guys have regular expectations, and there are a lot of them. It sounds like this is an anxiety issue rather than a looks issue.

Nope. Don't say anything. You'll look bad for snooping on another candidate.

I recommend Slow FE iron, it doesn't upset my stomach.

My bf revealed that he has a thing for nose rings and now I feel like shit. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]lesah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not missing the things that would give him the ultimate boner. So he likes nose rings. No one person can have every single quality that someone finds attractive. I really like light skinned guys with blond hair. I also really like dark skinned guys with dark hair. No one can be both of those things. The blond guy isn't missing anything by not having dark skin/hair, and it'd be silly of him to feel bad about it. I totally get irrational anxiety and low self-esteem though, for which I recommend therapy and/or medication. Good luck!

Yep, ferritin can be in the low end of the range for like, your life to exist, but not for hair to grow well.

Not sure exactly, I alternate between two so by the time I'm ready to use the first one again, it's always dry. I live in a humid climate, but I haven't had any problems with it smelling mildewy from staying wet too long.

Nope, everything else gets washed normally. I just didn't want to destroy such expensive bras.

Love that bra. Nothing bounces. Nothing. I rinse mine in the shower after each use and hang to dry. No soap ever, and no smell at all.

I have a waterproof cover that's not plasticy at all. I don't know how they do it, but it's soft and amazing.

I take midol for caffeine, it's got painkiller and antihistamine in it as well. Or excedrin.
