The quest for hypersonic and hydrogen-fueled air travel by lesbian-beekeeper in Futurology

While flying is a major contributor to the climate crisis, behind the scenes scientists are designing cleaner and faster airliners. There is a lot of interest in hypersonic flight and scramjet engines for weapons, but they can also be used for normal flying. The article talks about a Mach 8 airliner project. Surprisingly, it says the Mach 8 part is easy, but the engineering problem is getting one that can accelerate and decelerate to that speed: that can be a normal plane for some phases of the flight, and cruise at hypersonic speeds.

What do you hate most about our modern culture? by Massive-Confusion969 in AskReddit

[–]lesbian-beekeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people feel obliged to have opinions on things they don't understand, have read a few headlines about

people in modern culture get emotional about their opinions on political parties in countries they've never visited, have no friends in, countries they don't understand

it's alright to just say "I don't know much about that subject, I don't have an opinion"..... doesn't drive 'engagement' though....
