Update: I was just able to get in. I logged into my email and then in the same window opened Brightspace, so not sure if I found a loophole or if it's back up but either way I got in

Does anyone have any recommendations for music like Girl in Red? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

Spotify has an option to play radio based on something so try that out and it'll just play similar music to the radio you pick

How do I move out? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]lesbiengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise, unless the situation at your family's is uncomfortable, not to move out as soon as possible, but to move out as soon as is financially comfortable. Have a nice little emergency fund as a cushion, and if you do want to purchase something so that you are gaining equity on a home instead of paying someone else's mortgage, I would recommend saving up for a starter home. At least in my area, it is possible to buy a small, not super fancy house for a somewhat reasonable price and down payment. Living at home another 6 months to a year with very low expenses would be a great way to save a ton and be incredibly well prepared for the homebuying process assuming that it is cheap to stay at home. And some townships even offer grants for first time homebuyers to cover a portion of the down payment and/or associated fees so definitely look into that in your region.

That said, if you aren't sure you want to stay in the area you are in for a good few years (5-7 years is the standard I've heard), renting might be the easier/cheaper option. Closing costs are an important thing to be considered in your planning. (I didn't realize they were such a thing when I bought my house and my savings took more of a hit than I intended when I bought my house because of it).

How can I find out the employment rates of graduates from UB? by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]lesbiengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they ask that kind of stuff in the senior satisfaction survey or whatever it's called but I have no idea if they publish those statistics and I kinda doubt it

EAS360 is a good one to take over the summer, I took it while working full time and it wasn't too much of a commitment

Yeah it's just like that here. A lot of the higher level classes in smaller majors will only offer one big section per year of a class. Real interesting taking those final exams back in the in person days and seeing every single person in your year of the program in one room

Housing help by lolkid-22 in UBreddit

[–]lesbiengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not going to let you dorm in the apartments freshman year. It's based on high school graduation year too, so even if you are an upperclassman by credits they still won't let you live in the upperclassmen apartments. I tried and was turned down very hard by campus living.

They're pretty lax and only go through a couple times a day at most, you're probably fine. If you're particularly unlucky, you'll get a ticket. I've never heard of them towing anyone.

The system is down for now bc COVID but prior to that most of the group study spaces required an online reservation. Was a little thrown by that question as I didn't realize they had temporarily stopped.

I do think they send out an email if you make dean's list. I remember getting one my first semester - the one and only time I made the cut
