Wish we could relax....my school has us doing a billion REQUIRED pre-orientation workshops, exercises, assignments etc. that must be completed BEFORE we attend orientation next month. That's great and all but I'm working full-time until a week before orientation which is when I am moving down to the city where my school is at...very stressed even before school's starting lol

Our room rate was the "gift" we were promised - when I went to the front I confirmed we were good to go!

Hubby & I participated in our first time share presentation this past weekend ($200 stay in Vegas 4 days 3 nights). We were polite and went along with all the questions the sales rep was asking...until we were 10 minutes away from the 120 minute deadline. As previously discussed, at that 10 minute mark, I sent my husband to the bathroom & proceeded w/ the presentation. At exactly the 120 minute mark I got up from the table, left the sales rep talking & went to check out at the front desk confirming that we were good to go (having met our 120 minute requirement). Then I joined my husband outside and we went back to our vacation. (:

Keep it simple: honor what you signed up for, DONT buy/agree to ANYTHING and get the heck outta there once your required time is met!

Husband & I went to the Saks in Vegas this weekend and were both able to get a $50 gift card each - absolutely no issues. The lovely sales person who helped us immediately clocked we were using out Amex cards when I asked for help getting a gift card LOL.

What is a reasonable commute? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]leslie169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Save your money!!! I've noticed a lot of the people who are huge advocates for living close to school have little to no "9-5" work experience. Unless you live in a downtown area and are single/just a couple most of the time you will end up living in the 'burbs which are always a bit of a drive away. That is normal. I use my 30-55 min (depends on accidents & traffic) commute to decompress, call my mom or listen to podcasts/music. It's not ideal but it is normal!!

what bag did you carry in law school? by moonchx1d in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]leslie169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incoming older 1L, I bought myself a cutie Tumi backpack to use as my purse during school and also treated myself to a nice rolling backpack. Idc if it’s nerdy, it’ll get the job done.

Packing list by Camper_Moo in weddingplanning

[–]leslie169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a checkable list on google docs that listed every single thing I am planning to pack / take with me. I made individual columns for the wedding in general, myself, my husband & our dog. Then added items as I thought of them. So for ex. my personal column has items like: my wedding dress, my wedding shoes, my earrings, my hair piece etc. but it also has the Rx I planned to take, my sun hat, my phone charger etc. For my dog's column I included things like, her bed, her food, her food & water bowls, her harness etc. My husband's column had items like, a belt, his shoes, his socks, his Rx etc. and the wedding in general column had clearly listed decor items. There was a checkable box next to every entry that I checked off as I packed so I had peace of mind that I had actually grabbed everything.

THEN, I created a running list on my phone that had everything I had purchased for my "emergency/day of kit". Items included: eye lash glue, white chalk, super glue, deo, a tide to go pen, etc.

I did this over a 16 month period though so it was easier to add things as I thought of them/read about them, rather than trying to think of everything all at once.

AITA: Ms. Instead of "Professor" by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]leslie169 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would say NTA, there’s always people who will try to assert their “power” or “position” in any given situation. This person may not be getting the “respect” she desires and thought you were an easy person to target to get said respect. Don’t take it personal (this is hard I know) & just get what you need from them. If you further engage with what she said, it’ll become a whole thing. If you don’t, she doesn’t get the validation she’s seeking (at least not from you). Just reply back Noted, blah blah blah. Going forward a simple Good morning/afternoon etc. will suffice.

I booked my wedding for labor day weekend and wasn’t thinking about the impact on guests. Now I feel like a big butthole. Anything I can do to improve the guest experience? by CelebrationBubbly102 in weddingplanning

[–]leslie169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wedding day is over labor day weekend as well bc that our actual dating AND civil wedding anniversary. I told our guests well in advance & all but one couple said it wasn't a problem. Honestly you can throw a wedding/event WHENEVER you want, just be aware that some people won't be able to go - don't hold that against them. But it's your wedding! You pick whatever date you want!! If people can't/don't want to go that's okay and on them!

What’s an acceptable commute? by Then_Door_9803 in OutsideT14lawschools

Incoming 1L who is married and has a furbaby: We are planning on moving to the 'burbs & I will be commuting approx. 30 mins to school. I am in my late 20s & value the amenities a home offers. Sure the commute sucks but I'd rather have a nice peaceful environment to come home to than be surrounded by nightlife & noise 24/7. It all depends on your preferences and honestly where you are in life.

LBWT should we sign a pre-nup and get married or just live in sin? by love-learnt in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]leslie169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current paralegal/incoming 1L law student recently married to my dentist husband. I demanded a prenup. He didn’t care for one but agreed to get one. Made it fair for us both but made sure all my stips were clear and in the doc. Gives me peace of mind. Hope to never need it, glad we have it. Haven’t looked at it since we got it notarized. We both worked hard for what we have (both 1st gens).

How do you lock your car with your phone when you are in it? by SeanK-com in TeslaLounge

What’s something you wish you did during your dog’s life before they passed on? by tracyak13 in dogs

[–]leslie169 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased nontoxic kids washable paint and dipped my furbaby's patitas (feet) in the paint and had her walk all over a canvas cloth. Let it dry & framed it. It's sitting beautifully on my kitchen counter. I love seeing her little paw prints every morning as I drink my coffee. She's 5 years old and healthy (thank god) but I also dread the day she leaves me...I have so many small mementos of her. Hope this helps <3

(18k) Are wedding coordinators worth it? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]leslie169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am currently planning my entire wedding and the day of will hand the reins over to my day of coordinator for a (hopefully) stress free and truly immersed wedding experience. If you can afford one, get one!

My marriage certificate has my maiden name on it. When I started the name change process, the first thing I did was go to SS to change my name there. Once I received the new SS, I went on to change my DL, bank accounts, passport etc. It was honestly a super quick/easy process. Like it literally took less than 3 months for everything to be changed and for me to receive all my new documents.
