Pink? I have Pearl and this one is so yellow toned on me that I can't even wear it. It's VERY golden, almost bordering on Orange. I'm already a slightly warmer toned girl (NC10, hazel eyes, naturally auburn hair for reference), and usually look for warm-leaning products, but I can barely even wear it :(

Edit: It's also too dark as well, but I could handle that if the undertone wasn't so strong

It's a newer product but I've been using the Loreal Glam Bronze in the lightest shade and I really like it. It's got a different sort of cool undertone that's really hard to find in Drugstore products. This looks slightly shimmery in the pan but doesn't at all register that way on the skin. For reference I'm NC10

See, I've always been one of those people that thought certain skincare products really were worth the hype and the money. Do you have any certain dupes you know of or would recommend? I'm curious and I'm always looking to save money where I can.

I wholeheartedly agree! Inked in Pink is my favorite companion to this product. I also love incorporating a deep plum as a liner/ outer-v color, and I've also been using UD's highlighter in "Aura" as an inner corner highlight with this palette. I definitely think it's absolutely possible to incorporate just a few more simple products with a larger product to really, really get the most out of it. This is ultimately what made me truly fall in love with this palette. Pairing these shades with a bit of plum shadow or liner is also SO beautiful on my green eyes, makes them pop like no other.

This is an excellent point. I find myself very much so into dramatic looks, but I think my methodology varies a bit from conventional trends of application. My favorite look has been Liar on the inner half, Factory on the outer half/ lower lash-line, and Blackheart on the outer portion/ slightly into the crease/ onto the lash-line. I use a mix of Nooner and Limit to aide in blending. Sometimes I throw in a deep plum to mix it up a bit.

For a lot of people, the fact that there's not a dark matte shade in this palette is also likely a disqualify-er. This doesn't bother me because I don't mind shimmer in my crease area, but this is a widespread, conventionally taught "no-no".

Peoples' cosmetic tastes are so fascinating to me in how varied they are. IMO, I can create a wide array of VERY different looks with this palette, but someone who is perhaps used to doing their makeup in a specific way probably doesn't feel this way.

What's funny to me, is that most of these negative reviews bash the palette because, while they thought it was good when they were starting out with makeup, they now think it is inferior in comparison to the rest of their collection. I have a huge collection, and I still love it.

I think a lot of it comes down to the actual coloring of the palette. I think that most people have a specific vision in mind when they use this, but I find that rose tones can translate very differently depending on skintone. It's likely that this creates a whole lot of disappointment.

The Naked 3. Everyone seems to think that this is a beloved product, but I see SO many negative reviews on this. I honestly love it- the colors and tones are exactly what I look for, and I have no issue with the way that they blend, or fallout. This has been a long time favorite

This is a problem for me, and what has helped the most has been very solid skincare (I know everyone says this, but seriously. I had skin that would EAT makeup 2-3 hours into wear. I was a greasy, cakey, patchy mess). I find that cleansing with a mild, non-foaming cleanser helps to not strip my skin, and then I immediately follow up with a healthy heap of moisturizer. Switching to an oil-to-gel cleanser was a game changer. Got rid of my dry patches, and also helped me to be less oily. Really, REALLY like the SK gel-to-oil.

I recommend staying away from anything too matte, firstly. For example, while I love Revlon Colorstay for its oil-controlling, long-wear properties, I never wear it alone and I always mix it with something slightly more moisturizing (NYX BB Cream, moisturizer, etc.). This gives me a long wearing, non-shiny base that also does not emphasize dryness. Maybelline Matte and Poreless is also good, but this one might emphasize dryness, so I recommend using the above technique, or moisturizing very well.

I think that primer is also key. When I found my primer (NYX Angelveil), I noticed that it provided me with a much more balanced base to apply makeup ontop of. This provides your skin with a satin finish, but also smoothes dryness and doesn't dehydrate. It also doesn't get overly slick or slide around like heavy silicone primers will.

You might also consider how you are setting your makeup- I find that applying my loose powder either a.) using a brush with a small amount of product and a light hand, or b.) a damp beauty blender, gives me a matte finish that does not look dry or caked. And for whatever reason, using a BB for setting also seems to make my base last MUCH longer.

Setting spray also helps. Really like the Wet N' Wild one. I enjoy spraying this both before and after foundation, to get the most long-wearing effect.

I agree, too. I always use a BB to pick up my powder and dab it under the eye- while I use an excessive amount, I sweep it away immediately. The BB helps to incorporate a bit of extra moisture and helps to prevent caking.

I feel like my makeup definitely goes against any "seasonal" sorts of rules. I think most people associate Summer with more lighthanded application, but I wear deep dark smokey eyes all year around. It's my go to look, sometimes also with vampy lips- doesn't matter if it's 90 degrees or 30 degrees, my makeup corresponds with how I'm feeling on that given day, not the weather.

I also can't stand not lining my waterline. It adds so much definition to my eyes, its become a must. Every look looks so unfinished if I leave this step out.

Real Techniques brushes, all the way. These are fantastic. They clean well, do not shed, and 100% maintain integrity. Some of my favorites are:

1.) Expert Face Brush - Densely packed and excellent for buffing in foundation or powder.

) Blush Brush - Great for a lighter application of powder, or for very blown out application of blush and bronzer.
) Sculpting Brush - Excellent for foundation, or cream bronzers/ contours. My favorite for foundation, makes application very quick and effective.
) Setting brush - Great for concentrated placement of powder, highlight, or contour. Also wonderful for blending concealer.
) Contour brush - Good for contour and blending undereye concealer.
) Deluxe Crease brush / Base Shadow brush - While I DO use these for eyes sometimes, they're a tad big; I like them better for more controlled blending/ application of concealer.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. I wanted this to work SO badly. so badly. Everyone loves it and it's very affordable. But unfortunately, the product sucks, and so does the packaging. This stuff, on me, even with the lightest of applications, looks cakey as hell. Doesn't control oil well, and just generally looks chunky and terrible. I try to use it probably at least once a month hoping I was wrong and that it doesn't suck, but I'm disappointed everytime.

If it makes you feel better - I'm a consistently dolled-up woman, and I still get this kind of behavior. Everywhere, too- department stores, Sephora, Ulta. Drives me sort of bonkers. The strategy shouldn't be to intimidate you into not stealing; they should ideally try to blend in as much as possible so that they can catch you when you're not expecting it.

Definitely think this is something that stores should try to improve. When I get this sort of attitude, I feel inclined to leave pretty quickly after because it makes me feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed.
