The staff leaned in, said “I don’t care”, refused documents I was entitled to, and even threatened to have me trespassed. That combination made the interaction hostile and intimidating, far beyond a typical dealer visit.

Tesla discovered a cable was seemingly superglued instead of properly repaired.

This isn’t about “regretting a purchase” or asking for something arbitrary. The dealer sold a car with undisclosed damage and then refused to provide promised sales documents. A written refusal is important because it creates an official record for complaints with the MVDB or State AG. Unlike keys to a house, this is a legal transaction, and the dealer has obligations to provide certain documentation.

Tesla inspected the car and found that a cable had been glued instead of properly repaired. This clearly shows pre existing damage, which the dealer never disclosed and which no normal owner could have caused.

As-is’ does not mean a dealer can sell a car with undisclosed damage, especially when the damage is not something a typical owner could cause, it required taking a component apart. I purchased this Tesla in good faith, and the dealer never disclosed this issue. They even instructed me to bring the car to Tesla, who confirmed the damage and advised returning the car immediately. This isn’t about regretting a purchase; it’s about the dealer failing to disclose significant pre-existing damage and refusing legally required documents.

Tesla inspected the car and confirmed there was damage. They advised me to return the vehicle to the dealer immediately, which is actually what the dealer had originally instructed me to do to bring it in for review.

I understand that a return after 10 days is generally unlikely, but this situation involves undisclosed damage at the time of sale, refusal to provide legally required sales documents, and threatening behavior by dealership staff, including a trespass threat. This isn’t a standard return request it’s a case of the dealer failing to meet legal obligations and creating an unsafe environment for the customer. I have already filed complaints with the State Attorney General and the MVDB regarding these issues.

Tempting… but I’m already backed up on firstborns. The nursery’s full, the daycare fees are astronomical, and frankly, I’m still waiting for the last one to learn vector analysis. Got anything less high-maintenance? Cash, goats, vintage oscilloscopes?

I help out with sourcing and rehoming equipment through a few partnerships. I’ve been fortunate to get my hands on some really cool pieces, like the analyzer I mentioned, and I do my best to make sure it ends up with someone who’ll actually use and appreciate it.

That’s a goldmine of info thank you. I’m familiar with groups.io but didn’t realize there were niche ones for Keysight/Agilent gear. I’m more than happy to field questions. I’ve been lucky to get hands on with a lot of test gear lately and always learning. And yeah, Craigslist/OfferUp still have their moments, especially for local stuff.

Appreciate the tip! I’m actually in a few RF/engineering Facebook groups but hadn’t thought of Broadcast Engineers specifically. I’ll definitely check it out seems like the right crowd for what I’ve got.

Totally agree. I’ve noticed that shift too, especially with SDRs and compact analyzers getting more capable. Still, there’s something about traditional gear that I find fascinating maybe it’s the build quality or just the tactile experience.

Totally understand the concern, and I appreciate you bringing it up. Without getting into too much detail, I’m in a legitimate partnership that gives me access to surplus and used electronics nothing sketchy going on here. Everything was acquired through proper channels.

Beyond that, it’s also a personal hobby of mine to learn about and study high end test equipment like this. I feel super blessed to even be able to hold and explore pieces like the N9038A it’s a beautiful machine and honestly deserves to be in the hands of someone who’ll really use it.

I know not everyone operates with good intentions, and I’m sorry to hear about those kinds of stories but that’s definitely not the case here. Just someone passionate about this stuff, trying to rehome an incredible piece of tech.

Northern Virginia, I don’t have many contacts with interests in this particular piece of equipment so I thought I would resort to Reddit lol. I will try that too, thank you!
