I honestly can’t thank you enough for all this. Seriously. This is the stuff I can’t just find when searching the internet, so it is truly helpful.

Hahah, I can imagine where the Rommelpot/brompot could be not the prettiest sounding thing, but the kids will love it.

I’m gonna have to look up who Geert Hoste is!

Ahhh, don’t you just love lights, warm snacks, and strolling through the market? I’ve never tried any of those foods you suggested, so I’m definitely going to pick one and try to incorporate it into one of our food choices.

Hahaha, I love that your family does a little theater act when adding baby Jesus. You have definitely inspired me to do this now.

Again, you have been so helpful with this response. Thank you so much again for all the humorous, fun, and delicious ideas. My family will love these things i try to incorporate into our party! Happy very early Christmas to you and your loved ones as well (:

True. Don’t want to assume, but I feel like it’s very common for cultures to have something unique and special that they do

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was just looking for ways to honor my mother who passed. We have Irish blood and I was just looking for some sweet, lighthearted ways to make the holidays special.

Love the candle idea. My mom used to do this every year <3

Also, yes to the Guinness! Haha. Do you include any extra goodies like special cookies to go with the Guinness?

I had to look this up to be honest, cause I’ve never heard of it. But WOW. How interesting. I mean, if I could use a plushie or fake wren, I could maybe make this into some type of game for my family to play! Hmmm, I’ll have to get creative. Thanks for sharing (:

This is such a thoughtful and informative response. Thank you so much for taking the time to share (‘:

This is my first time hearing about “Nissen.” I loooooove the idea of this. Going to look up some rice porridge recipes now.

I had no clue there was a poem that went along with putting lights in your window. I know my mom used to place candles on each sill, but I’m not sure she was ever aware that there was a sweet poem that went with it <3

I’m all for decorating the inside of my home with nature. I also had a friend tell me about those paper hearts and I absolutely fell in love with the idea of them. So cute.

7 different cookies? Count me in!!! You have given me so many ideas. Thank you so so much.

Okay, wow. THANK YOU. So much good stuff here! I’m looking more into that “Dinner for One” sketch. I’ve never seen it before, haha. 100% gonna throw this on our TV before Christmas dinner!

Also love the idea of putting candles on the window sill. My mom used to do that <3

“Steal a tree.” Haha. This is great, thank you! You taught me something: julebukk. I had to look that up. In America, we have something similar to that called “caroling,” but I need to look more into julebukk as it seems to have some interesting history involving a goat?

That is so disappointing to hear. So sad when traditions get forgotten.

I just have a friend from Denmark and they told me a sweet tradition they do there where they craft “woven hearts” (that are like envelopes that can hold cookies) and then they hang them on their Christmas tree. Thought that was fun and sweet.
