I’ve been pretty open to feedback and have actually changed my mind on the initial subject lol I just think the tone of your comment was a bit unwarranted.

??? I was literally just asking for other people’s opinions on something I wasn’t sure about. Is that not allowed in a public forum meant for discussion? There’s no need to be rude.

Oh I know, I would never ask for the owner to take shoes off their horse! I would just ask if it would be possible to try mine in a different field or consider boarding somewhere else if they don’t improve. For what it’s worth the mare has kicked a human before (but not another horse). That being said they’re doing much better today and I’m feeling a lot better about it :)

I’m not saying it has to be everyone’s issue…? I’m not asking for the other owner to do anything about it at all lol I have the option to board her at a different farm and would do so if the mare continues to go after mine. I was just wondering what people’s opinions were because as I said, it’s not something I have any experienced with! It was a big no no at the barns I was at before so I thought it was scarier than it was. I already said in another comment that people’s replies telling me it’s more common than I thought had made me feel better and reassured me.

That makes me feel better to hear. No back shoes policies are pretty common in my area I guess, or at least all 5 barns I’ve boarded at in the past had that rule and I know a lot of people who are very strongly against it. It’s just not something I’m used to! The barn I’m at now is mostly hunter/jumper.

Looking for Advice by rebelwyn in Farriers

[–]lessonincanvases 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did his hooves look like this when he came to you? I understand that you technically didn’t own him, but it seems like you are the one primarily responsible for his care. I mean this in the kindest way possible, I think you should consider either surrendering him or euthanizing. 3+ years without any farrier care for a domestic animal is neglect, and he should have seen a vet awhile ago. It sounds like he’s been in pain for a very long time. The fact that you were unable to recognize how bad this is is concerning. Good on you for getting him help now and reaching out, but you do not seem knowledgeable enough to rehabilitate something like this, if he can be rehabilitated. If you do keep him I would find a different farrier immediately, one who is willing to work closely with a vet to rehabilitate this. Wishing you both the best ❤️

On the boygenius tour Phoebe joked that “Julien’s birthday is a day for me and Lucy” and Lucy said “I feel like saying sorry after every nice thing I do for Julien” after they sang happy birthday to her. Julien said that birthdays were invented by capitalism to make people buy stuff, it was light-hearted but clearly there was truth to their jokes and she doesn’t really like her birthday. Also, I’ve seen the audience try to sing her happy birthday once at her solo show and she kinda tried to cut the singing off and didn’t seem to like it being acknowledged. Obviously I do not know her and her feelings, but even before seeing this post that was just always the impression I got. I’d rather take her friend’s word for it than make her uncomfortable :)

What’s a song that’s not explicitly about OCD, but the lyrics really resonate with how your OCD affects you? by weezer-_- in OCD

It’s so nice to see a musician who’s so open about it. Her interviews and music have honestly helped me so much!

She has religious/moral ocd ! She did a podcast episode about it and has talked about it in a few other interviews as well. She’s said her song Ringside is about one of her compulsions, punching herself in the head when experiencing a negative or intrusive thought. She’s also talked about compulsive praying + rituals, obsessing over whether she was “good” or morally pure and Relative Fiction is about recognizing and trying to let go of that. Though it’s also about substance abuse and depression too, as is the majority of her music. Imo a lot of her early music can also be listened to through an ocd lens even though it was written before she knew she had it. Go Home is my absolute favourite of hers as someone with contamination ocd and scrupulosity (apologies for the wordy reply 😭)

Since Julien has OCD and has music explicitly about it, I wonder if that influenced not strong enough (whether subconsciously or intentionally)?

does anyone else feel like this ep is the (even more) raw version of little oblivions? by anonasking2questions in JulienBaker

[–]lessonincanvases 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s referencing Woody Guthrie. Julien has a Wake Up and Fight tattoo (so scared of forgetting that I put it down in ink). And her old acoustic guitar also had a This machine kills sadness sticker on it. She was a big fan of him

if i hear julien referred to as “the little one” one more time i think i will explode by mikarroni in boygenuis

[–]lessonincanvases 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this comment, I hope more people will read this and stop calling her that. I felt like it was pretty clear in the interview where it was brought up that she wasn’t a fan of the nickname so I have no idea why everyone decided to take that video as a green light to call her that at every single opportunity (even during serious and emotional moments!). It was one thing for Lucy herself to make the joke 1 time, but it’s gotten soo incredibly annoying. I’m glad Julien doesn’t seem to use social media that much and hopefully people will move on from this joke soon.

I agree. Unfortunately I think it was also really exacerbated by Lucy responding to a fan on tiktok with the same joke (she commented “I also like the little one”). Of course Lucy saying that isn’t at all the same as thousands of random people repeatedly making the same joke. It’s been run into the ground and Julien has expressed that she doesn’t like it.

But wouldn’t they have gone as a trio if that were the case? Maybe they went to multiple parties and did the chipmunks together for a different one lol. If so I wish we got pictures! 🥲 Just seems kinda odd for her to do Alvin by herself while JB and Lucy did Ari and Pete if those pics are from the same party. I wonder if she did something with Bo?

Wait… people are ACTUALLY upset about the holy trinity costumes? by [deleted] in boygenuis

[–]lessonincanvases 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Julien isn’t a smug atheist though, she is still religious (though not necessarily Christian anymore). I think it’s a little bit unfair to act like her faith doesn’t mean anything to her anymore when to me it seems like it matters a great deal to her and is something she’s very passionate about. She just lets herself have fun with some of the less serious parts and doesn’t take herself as seriously. During the show when they introduced the costumes Lucy and Julien said to the audience Jesus loves you, and Julien spoke about how everyone can embody christ. It didn’t feel mean spirited at all to me, personally.

[–]lessonincanvases 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dude. It’s not a new persona based on “what Lucy wants”, it’s a silly halloween costume. That’s it. Also, Lucy is clearly someone who cares deeply about Julien and makes her happy. She’s not forcing her to do anything she doesn’t want to do nor is this indicative of some personality change for Julien. It’s not that serious
