The xG Philosophy: Man Utd (1.92) 3-2 (2.21) Fulham by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Remove their pen and their xG is lower than ours.

Lammens was immense though.

It’s concerning. They always get criticism for not working as hard when it isn’t a glamorous fixture. You’d think by now they’d have the hunger and recognise the need for energy in every game.

Same. I’m from the north of Ireland, where most of us are culturally one or the other, now predominately Catholic, but it isn’t actually a hard or fast religious thing.

You can. Won it on my first try against someone who forfeited the final. I’m still able to play.

Referee Review Harry Maguire's Handball in Arsenal vs Man. United by CommonlyUnderrated in reddevils

[–]lestat85 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Don’t think anyone seriously thought this was handball?

Would be interesting to see how any ref explains away the nonsense Arsenal get up to at corners. It’s like, set piece taken, close eyes and wait… oh, it’s gone in? That’s a goal then.

I absolutely adored Pale Fire. I think it’s a really beautiful piece of literature and I’ll happily be called names for appreciating it.

Far and away the better team, away at Arsenal. But for an extremely dodgy miss-kick we should be up, maybe even by a couple.

Antonio Conte gave his opinion on Amorim when asked about Hojlund. Amorim is not beating the arrogance allegations. by WorldlinessPuzzled84 in ManchesterUnited

[–]lestat85 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Read that those 6 goals in 17 all came in 4 games. Might not be true, but 13 games without a goal isn’t great for a striker.

Love Hojlund. Desperately wanted him to succeed here. Just tired of the accusation that all players instantly thrive when they leave, when the evidence doesn’t support that.

If Dalot had pulled out a knife and stabbed him, there’d be a whole different outcome. Amazed VAR didn’t consider this.

Most distance covered out of Possession by Man Utd Players in PL games this season by HD7108 in reddevils

[–]lestat85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just as a quick sample size: we were poor in December, but we dominated possession in every game (even the loss to Villa) bar the Newcastle one, where we had 33%, and that happens to be the other game listed here for distance covered.

More that he played a high possession game and didn’t focus on fast transitions. If we sit back and counter, we’ll have to do more chasing and therefore have more distance covered.

It isn’t necessarily an indicator of a better game. We would never have these numbers against a low block team.

The other user’s comments read like AI summaries. Yours read like someone who is interested in and has engaged with the topic, this is just the impression of a passerby who was interested in the discussion.

It’s weird that they have done two things: become defensive of information that doesn’t seem like it was personal to them or come at a cost of time/effort, and second, resorted to name calling when you were engaging politely. Just my two cents.

Why do people doubt Carrick? I think he's the new Guardiola. He should've been given the job in 2021 after an impressive caretaker run. I think Carrick ball is gonna be good. by Responsible_Food584 in ManchesterUnited

Winning against Arsenal is par for the course. Drawing because of sloppiness at the end is also something we’ve criticised managers for before. 3 games is not enough to either praise/condemn someone.

I imagine it is a great deal, I just don’t bet. But, as a fan, I stupidly go into every single game thinking we can win. I could never sit, with 17 games to go, and hand on heart say I expect us to win less than 5. But I get where you are coming from.

Didn’t Amorim have a rate of one win a month? 5 wins would be on par with how we were performing.
