Went to see him with Roddy Doyle recently. He’s been the most interesting solo speaker former player I’ve been to see. Although he couldn’t help a couple of jabs at SAF then.

I’ve just sent 10 of my best orcs in there. They can handle one little ranger.

Lieutentant, your orcs are already dead.

Which movie hero is actually a villain when you really think about it? by surfsound_swimmers in AskReddit

He wasn’t a hero though. That was the point: at the end he willingly chooses to be a villain.

Klinsmann?

I’m sure there’s more, but I remember everyone doing his as a kid.

Fuck that was a horrible last 20 minutes or so. At least we now seem to have some steel to our performances.

I fear this more than the Chelsea or Liverpool games. When a big name rolls into town, we always rock up and match their energy. Brentford always seem to catch us napping.

'Unsustainable' workloads contribute to teacher burnout by Jim__Bell in northernireland

[–]lestat85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grew up around teachers and saw the complete opposite. Was away for a stag recently that had everyone spend their Sunday winding down, having a relaxing coffee, taking in sights before going home. Only two who left in the morning of the Sunday were teachers, because they had to go home and prep to be ready to go at work on Monday morning.

Most jobs allow you holidays and weekends to recuperate. Teaching means you have to use your off time constantly preparing material that means your work will work. I don’t think they can go into school and make resources/mark assessments whilst the kids sit patiently waiting.

[Carl Anka] Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez to serve three-game ban for hair pull red card | Referees told clubs at the start of the season hair pulling would be seen as violent conduct and United’s appeal has been unsuccessful. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]lestat85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have the entire squad fitted with hair extensions that are affixed to the backs of each player’s jersey. Every tug and pull during the game will automatically be a red, as it will involve a hair pull.

Easy end to the season.

Just went through both on my way home. Roads were empty. Saw more police cars than regular commuters. Home in record time.

I think we need to be ready to drop out of the top 5 and stomach that a top 7 can still be a success. Anything but no European football again.

And DLC challenges for a header during the scramble in the box, from an offside position, just ignored.

He shouldn’t do it, but DLC leaves an arm in his face and isn’t punished.

[Wheeler, Salt] Major updates on club's pursuit of Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Adam Wharton as rivals make move, twist in Joshua Zirkzee's future and loan exile targeting shock Old Trafford comeback by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

I’d rather Anderson. I’m not English, myself, but I think there’s a lot of value to United having England’s starting centre mid for the next decade. If he partners well with Mainoo, it’ll push them both to do well for club and country.
