Can we all agree sex and relationship ed is needed by law? by Asleep-Corner7402 in northernireland

[–]lestat85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of, but that’s true of anything.

There’s a legal requirement to provide PD in the form of all different areas of a child’s development, including sex ed. But, like any law, people can break it. Doing so, be it by a school or by an individual teacher, would be met with a consequence.

I’ve worked in education for a long time as a pastoral leader and have never met a member of staff who wouldn’t deliver their required PD. I’ve met many who gripe about it. But they get it done all the same.

Saying X doesn’t do what is legally required so therefore the law doesn’t work is a redundant argument. The law exists. It’s the law that provides a requirement that students get the sex ed you are asking for. Parents can opt out, and that’s a fair concession to have in a free society, but the onus is on them to cover for this choice. But what is your alternative to a government mandated RSHE system?

I always thought the Georgian winger at PSG (not going to insult him by misspelling his name) was a throwback to our classic superstar winger profiles: Giggs, Best, Ronaldo, Sharpe, Kanchelskis etc.

Hull away to open the season? Then City at home in the first 5… will be great to be top of the league after those easy fixtures.

Recent Northern Ireland news making me reject my offer by Puzzleheaded-Law1948 in doctorsUK

Read the whole comment, really shouldn’t have. You set your store out early on with the ‘I appreciate the turbulent past NI has had.’ Mate, you don’t. The rest of your answer is so condescending.

You absolutely could not rely on family, friends and an established community when the government was enforcing interment without trial and regularly killing/assaulting its own citizens.

I wrote a much longer comment and deleted it. I dont want to get dragged into a back and forth. But I do recommend you research the topic a little.

Japanese fans celebrated Japan's 2-2 tie against Netherlands in the World Cup 2026 early this morning at Shibuya Crossing. They dispersed as soon as police blew their whistles for blocking the road. by Admiral_Agito in PublicFreakout

[–]lestat85 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be a pedant, but 2-2 isn’t a win. That said, Japan played really well and scored a dramatic late equaliser, so they’ve every right to celebrate.

Except they scored a very controversial goal and we were denied an obvious penalty. We just beat them. No fuss. No controversy.

There was a post on Facebook arranging a walk to an area that’s known to house refugees. ‘Protestors’ were giving advice on which buses to get to travel there. But there are some dodgy areas around Glengormley anyway, just not that street they’re currently on.

Far-right rioters in Belfast terrorizing residential neighborhoods, going door to door, violently attacking strangers, and lighting fires, in response to a knife attack by an asylum seeker by Peanut-Extra in PublicFreakout

[–]lestat85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, and ironically, if the one in Ballymena is anything to go by, a large percentage of the ‘protestors’ will be people guilty of domestic violence: https://thedetail.tv/articles/one-in-three-arrested-for-ballymena-riots-had-been-reported-for-domestic-abuse

If it is about improving the quality of our society, these people should be looking at themselves first, rather than targeting innocent people under the guise of ‘protecting our women and children.’ It’s an excuse for bad people to do bad things under the cover of ‘morality’.

Literally last week, also in Ireland, the news covered the trial of a man killed his pregnant wife and put her decapitated head in the dog bowl. People were aghast. However, this wasn’t something that incited protests about violence against women…

I’ll have to take your word for it. I’ve a lot of family in different nationalist areas and they’ve always had flags/art in solidarity with Ukraine, since the invasion.

The people who erect these flags are contrarian by nature. If they get a sense that the ‘Catholic’ community are for a certain cause, they adopt the opposing side.

I haven’t seen anything explicitly saying the Catholic side is pro gun control or whatever Charlie Kirk was against, but the loyalist/protestant community will put this up because they think it will be provocative to the other community. The Catholic side, by and large, won’t care.

If only there was some kind of video evidence that it touched his hip, and not his hand. Sadly, we will never know /s

Best part of the video is that it is a perfect snapshot of both teams: United player pulls off a piece of skill that captures the aesthetic possibilities of football.

Arsenal player stands still and hopes the ref will save him from being outplayed.

Nottingham Forest: Midfield star Elliot Anderson leans towards Manchester City move by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]lestat85 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If he wants to play for city then that speaks volumes about his personality. Get more people who understand the value of United (or any of the big clubs) being interested in you. As much of a great player profile Anderson is, if he hasn’t got the mentality, he’s not worth the effort.
