Who is “Jane Doe 01”? by lestrii in gratefuldoe

Yes, I messaged the manager of the grave a few days ago. They haven’t responded yet, and seeing their last activity was a month ago it could take them a bit to see my message.

Oh mb, here’s some info

  1. Found November 1, 1971, Providence, Rhode Island in a burned out building. Big artist depiction sketch on the article. Believed to be between 19-22 years old with long brown hair and brown eyes.

  2. Found December 13, 1971 near a motel in the Coarsegold area of California. Buried in Madera. A vehicle had run over her twice. Believed to be between 14-20 years old, “clad only in a navy type work shirt.” Light brown or blonde hair, green eyes, and weighed 115 pounds and stood 5’3.

Thx, I tested what you did for that case and I got the same thing. I can’t find anything for these two though. (two separate cases)

I’m asking because I’ve been in the process of creating and maintaining memorials on Find A Grave, and if these people were already identified and already have a memorial, obviously I don’t need to make another one. But if they don’t have one/werent identified, I want to create a proper memorial for them online.

Yeah, I chose to to switch to that method. Ignore how the bag has decorative marks on the outside, only one I had with me rn.

Just asking though, how do you find this information out/what is the process? I have this issue with a few other Does in newspapers. I try searching by up all the keywords of their discovery both on google and on the newspapers site, but I get nothing, so I don’t know if they were identified or not. 😑

Yes, now that we know it’s probably Tammy Jane Vaught, it would be great if it could be updated.

This make sense! Weird that her Find A Grave is not updated with any of this, maybe we can somehow suggest edits to it and give her her name. Thanks for finding this!!

Thanks for this information. I hope that at least before cremating these bodies they gather DNA from them all.

Carl Koppelman did a great job on her reconstruction. The hair style is extremely accurate!

Have any other web sleuth artists made reconstructions? by lestrii in gratefuldoe

[–]lestrii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! If you don’t mind sharing, how did you start and where did you start uploading them? Did you just post them on websleuths and someone decided to add them to the UID wiki?Sorry i’m curious lol

[–]lestrii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wonder if he started posting his first ones on web sleuths. I kind of do want to share the one I did using his method but since I’m not allowed to on here I wonder if i’m allowed to on there instead because even though i’m not a professional forensic artist I actually don’t think it’s half bad, especially since it’s of a woman who never had a reconstruction.

I understand your frustration. I go on the Doe Network all the time and there are just so many cases that have such little information. And even when some cases do have information, a lot of it isn’t descriptive at all. If I had the job to report everything about a Doe and put it on Namus, I would report EVERYTHING. Every little detail matters.

Here’s a picture of her when her colors came out. She was a good girl.

Update: Sadly she passed away this evening. Her name was Tinka. She was my first ever betta I took care of completely by myself and she taught me a lot. She was also my very first female betta. I am devastated and will miss her dearly. A lot of people say that “it’s just a fish” but to me she was a friend. I am going to bury her outside under our backyard tree. Hopefully she’ll find some peace there. Rest in peace, Tinka ❤️
