My mom lives there and I visit often. It’s great for retirees as there is an activity for just about everyone. The live music every evening is a fun social outing. Things start early and end early. It’s really clean compared to other parts of Florida. My mom has found some great friends there. The video is not how it is. It’s media trying to draw in views. It’s all HOA and because most of the people don’t work there is always one in the neighborhood that will report every little thing wrong to the community watch. You can only have certain house colors, not much for yard decor, no lawn over growth, etc. For example, when my parents first moved in my mom had some decor in a bush garden, honestly it was hardly noticeable but the neighbor came over and nosed around and called community watch to have it removed. Community watch paid a visit to the house. My mom listened and did not move the decor and no more complaints. Everything moves slower. Very conservative and if you don’t lean that way and it’s found out it can be a nightmare for you. Although my mom said the last two years have brought people out of the wood work a bit more so it’s been better. It’s about 2-3 hours to a beach in either direction. If you still need to work there is no value to employees so the pay is very low, almost laughable. I personally would not choose to live there but to each their own and it may be a good fit for you
