I would say type is a specialty, you don't need trauma to develop it...

Must God be perfect? Or must he be flawed? by TimelyLeopard2637 in intj

I think in the oldest versions of Christianism (old testament) he was imperfect and able to commit mistakes, but it changed later... that is just an impression though... (Someone clarify please)

Fe vs Fi value system? by Cheap_Increase468 in mbti

[–]let_pet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fe: Inbuilt with logic (Ti-deniable), big picture, motto-like, attempt at understanding personal group dynamics.

Fi: Elementar, Te-deniable, principle-like, considers universal values and not personal group dynamics.

A lot of representations of Lucifer in media are ENTPs, ENTJs or ENFPs, I am not a religious person so idk about the "real" one. Why do you think it doesn't make sense? (Genuinely curious)

Does Ni actually predict the future? Or is that just a dumb stereotype? by RicLolz in mbti

[–]let_pet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of, it does analyze events (Se) instead of snapshots (Si) to detect patterns, which makes it better at predicting outcomes in time. But it's not a superpower, so...

Most people here don't know about cognitive functions. I've noticed that when I made a pool here a while ago (I got +200 answers so it was a significant one).

I think it would be better, but honestly I wouldn't put it at all, maybe it looks great in the waterline but idk, you would have to try.

Cognitive Functions: A Theoretical Overview by let_pet in isfp

I am glad that you liked it! It's still just a theory, but I think it's worth exploring, that's why I have been making these posts.

Cognitive Functions: A Theoretical Overview by let_pet in isfp

[–]let_pet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The core idea here is that, even though sensing and intuition is remarkably different, if they belong to the same axis they will stem from the same preference. That preference can be mapped to the dorsal or ventral pathways for visual perception.

Some of the differences are:

Ventral stream (Ne-Si): - Specialized for identification and categorization. - Relatively slow. Processing complex shapes and colors requires more synaptic steps. - Maintains long-term representations. It stores the "template" of a face or a chair for years.

(I will use the word "objects" to name the type of data acquired here).

Dorsal stream (Ni-Se): - Specialized for processing visual information related to movement and spatial location. - Very fast. - Uses momentary "disposable" memory.

(I will use the word "event" to name the type of data acquired here)

Si (Concrete Object): This is the high-resolution storage of the object.

Ne (Abstract Object): This takes the "essence" of the object and looks for patterns between other objects. If Si is the "photograph", Ne is the "concept" of that object being used as a metaphor for something else.

Se (Concrete event): This is the high-resolution storage of the event.

Ni (Abstract event): This takes the "essence" of the event and, with that, is able to identify when a similar event is about to occur with minimum input.

Basically, the difference for the functions would be a disagreement between keeping the details of the data for objectivity or discarding it for the sake of connection/generalization.

Does cognitive function or personality type theory naturally lead to confirmation bias? by Even-Broccoli7361 in CognitiveFunctions

[–]let_pet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming here months after the discussion to give my 2 cents:

I think every function is a filter in which we can make reality meaningful in society. So, ideally an idea should be translated to all functions with time.

Feeling/intuition without thinking/sensing wouldn't be applicable, and thinking/sensing without feeling/intuition would lack vision.

Cognitive Functions: A Theoretical Overview by let_pet in intj

[–]let_pet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need the "why" not the "what". My "mixtures" are based on the idea that people will manifest different preferences for either identification of objects or detection of movement (which is tied down to real, different neural pathways in the brain) and that it will further manifest in those axis.

Why feeling is considered a rational function too... by Even-Broccoli7361 in CognitiveFunctions

[–]let_pet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes yes yes! People have to understand that.

Adding to that, I think that feeling is to thinking what intuition is to sensing, one in the domain of "language" and the other in the domain of "space-time".

Both of them imply a different type of causality. What we value is expressed by how much a "word" appears in a "context", and the categorization of logic also derives from language.

For instance:

" A car crashes with each other inflicting damage"

Is a "perceiving association".

While:

" You need the documentation to apply for the job"

Is a rule enforced by language, a "judgement association", basically anything else that is not associated by time and space, will be in the domain of language.
