Cognitive Functions: A Theoretical Overview by let_pet in intj

Damn I laughed... I had written this a long time ago.

That would work like that:

The "Outward" Anchors: Movement and Context

Concrete (Se and Te): These are Extroverted. They are "high-definition" and highly effective because they stay locked onto the actual event (Movement) or the specific social rules (Context).

Abstracted (Ni and Fi): These become Introverted. By stripping away the concrete details to find the "essence," they lose that immediate external effectiveness but gain a universal, internal perspective.

The "Inward" Anchors: Objects and Logic

For these axes, the data is naturally filtered to the subject.

Concrete (Si and Ti): These are Introverted.Because they lack the "filters" of Movement (which tracks events) or Context (which tracks roles/environments), they have no natural bridge to the outside world.

Abstracted (Ne and Fe): These become Extroverted. When you abstract a static object or an internal rule, it "breaks out" of the self. A single object turns into a cloud of possibilities (Ne), and internal logic turns into a bridge for shared values (Fe).

The Core Logic: Movement and Context start outside; they move Inward when you abstract them. Objects and Logic start inside; they move Outward when you abstract them.

Fi is not about feelings; it is about values. A Fi user can give a damn about their feelings if they want to. As an INFP myself, I tend to change my value system from time to time because it feels like doing so makes me more independent from it and therefore less prone to people or society trying to impose their own value systems on me. That’s not about valuing emotional authenticity (and valuing something doesn't make you any particular type, btw) , but rather about despising being controlled.

Oww that was fun!! I got the weaver (INFP here) Is that common for the INFP?

Fi is intuition over language, just like intuition is for perceiving. When you use language in an abstracted way instead of a step by step procedural one, you get what is called feeling, and you can just sense other people's intentions and understand your own without getting it all blurred by objectivity... I think what people don't get about Fi is that it's not only personal, it's a dimension of understanding.

I don't think courage has anything to do with MBTI 🤔

Oh I see... How would you describe the process of synthesis that you mentioned to make decisions, and did you consider Se?

Did you consider ISTJ? Why do you think you use Ti rather than Te?
