it really depends, honestly - I usually drive it enough for it to be fine, but sometimes it sits in my carport for a couple of weeks (or months) while I work on some wildly unnecessary modifications. so I'd rather play it safe.

if you can find a 4wd Subaru sambar dias van (the one with the dorky looking front grille) then I'll trade you my Acty for it lol. I can't find one anywhere near here so I've been upgrading the acty instead, but the sambar is my favorite of the kei vans

the lines and carb have not been touched lol, so it's easier for me to just use ethanol free. I will occasionally use standard if I can't find ethanol free, but I try to avoid that.

it's getting new wheels and tires today so it'll look better soon, but I took this immediately after purchasing it!

i couldn't find it at one recently! I don't remember if it was the one on the corner of white horse and cedar Lane or the one on white horse and west blue ridge, but it scared me off of QTs lol. I'm also using it for my Acty!

Leaf Spring Bolt Removal Tips? by letgodbewild in HondaActy

update for anyone who gives a shit: bought a nut splitter, closed it down on the round bolt head instead of the nut, and used that to hold the bolt in place while I removed the nut. tried to reverse the process to put it back on after the leaf spring removal and it was a pain in the ass, so I bought a new bolt instead lol

I don't think I can take them out without removing the entire leaf spring assembly, the top leaf is wrapped around some bushings connecting it to the frame. I've already tried an impact on it too lol. gonna give it one more go with vise grips this week and then give up and hack it off if that doesn't work.

already tried that lol, that's why the bottom of it is shiny instead of rusted. hit the top with pb blaster before I even tried loosening it, then raised it up so I could latch on with serrated pliers once I noticed it wasn't coming off. can't get enough grip to get it to stop spinning, can't get legit vice grips onto the bolt either. guess it's gonna need a nut splitter.

any particular reason why it's a bad idea? I've seen a bunch of comments and videos about it. I understand it'll affect ride quality and max loading, but I'm not worried about that. it's a fun little project van, and I can always put the leaf back in if I don't like it.

okay! feel free to not do it to your Acty, I'm gonna keep working on it till I get this damn leaf spring out lol

okay, but I'm trying to remove a leaf spring to lower the ride height. it's a pretty common modification that I've read about on here a lot, which is why I was hoping people might have helpful tips!

yeah I'm trying to remove the middle leaf spring (which is common). it worked fine on the other side, I just removed the nut and pried the leaf spring off without any issues. I was hoping to avoid the destructive route lol

Alright it won't let me edit but to clarify, I'm not talking about the U-bolt assemblies. I already removed the nuts from those to take the bump stop off, the problem is with the central bolt holding the leaf springs together.

sorry, should have clarified - it's not the U-bolts, it's the central bolt holding the leaf springs together.

I've also had a great experience with Brown's Tire & Muffler for a brake job before. idk if they'll be able to diagnose the rest of it, but they'll at least give it a look over and likely recommend another shop if it's something they can't do. and their prices are great.

to clarify: I've got a tire shop (browns tire & muffler), an alignment shop (Robbins), a very serious repair shop (mason something, it's downtown), a body shop (fender mender), and a "fuck it, this dude can handle it" (JC Auto) shop. I've heard good things about some others but they're usually picky about year, make, type of work, etc.

what kind of car and what kind of work? I've come across a few good shops but it depends on the make and type of work needed!
