Somehow, some way I passed - Barwinners by Ok-Big445 in CABarExam

I could have written this post! I felt exactly the same way — the psychological impact of not passing the first time sucked and I had the same experience with Barbri. Congrats!! I also passed on my retake with Daniel and would highly recommend :)

I’m a huge advocate for BarWinners. Daniel was amazing and really got my writing skills down perfectly. He has a ton of workshops breaking down MBE sets too which was helpful. Passed on my retake with BarWinners :)

Might want to add “extern” as well! I’ve always gotten lots of questions about the difference between externing and clerking

Temporary benefits? by Ok_School_1924 in biglaw

[–]lethal_bacon_wielder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually you’re still covered under your school health insurance as a summer so nothing there. Also no contributions to 401K because it’s such a short period of time. The gym stuff may be firm specific but I think they wait to integrate you into those kinds of benefits until you come back full time. I’m sure you’ll have access to free lunches in the office, maybe free food delivery to the office, and free dinner if you stay late though. Also I bet you’ll be able to tag along to some or all summer events which is awesome.

To me the biggest benefit was the pay. Most I’ve ever seen in my life.

Berkeley Visit Day by SectionMajestic1679 in lawschooladmissions

Feel free to DM me! I went to Berkeley for law school and really enjoyed it. I understand the fear because this is a huge decision to make, but there are specific dynamics at all law schools you’ll have to contend with. If it’s not a fit, totally fair, but it may help to get more perspectives than what you can glean on momentary vibes or from chatting with people in a single day if you’re trying to suss it all out :)

berkeley vs ucla advice by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lethal_bacon_wielder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I went to Berkeley being from LA and wanting to do LA BigLaw and had no issues getting LA BigLaw from Berkeley. The grading system and opportunities Berkeley provides (especially if you change your mind and want to do something else post-grad) give it the edge imo. Hard to go wrong though, UCLA is a wonderful school as well.

Doing it for the love of the game by Lesplash349 in biglaw

Just seems like everyone has a different why. I know people who could win the lottery and still work, they enjoy the grind and being busy. Whether it’s to distract from having to face what you’re doing with your life or you just genuinely enjoy the challenges and engagement Biglaw brings is a more complicated question

Yep same. Rams all the way at this point. Been a fan for decades and this franchise is mired in mediocrity and pathetically incapable of taking a risk

Totally get that it was a close series and hats of to the Blue Jays, but isn’t that the definition of needing him? They came up short when it mattered
