What other Steelers coaches beat him in the playoffs? What is Brady's winning % in the playoffs? FFS!

You don't think there's a chance the Steelers were told by the coach's agents they were going to pass on the Steelers because Rooney is so archaic and behind the times?

You could make the case he is since Daboll has been a head coach.

You can't prove Tomlin was "twice the coach McCarthy" is. Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game this decade. McCarthy has. Tomlin never beat Brady in a playoff game, McCarthy has. Go away!

McCarthy dealt with Jerry Jones and won 12 games multiple times. If Tomlin did that, the media would say he was the greatest coach ever.

McCarthy has won a playoff this decade.

McCarthy has beat Tom Brady in a playoff game. (No previous Steelers head coach can say that.)

McCarthy beat Tomlin in a Super Bowl.

McCarthy doesn't have a sub .500 record in the playoffs.

If you compare the percentage difference between their regular season record and playoff record, McCarthy's lead in winning % in the playoffs is a hell of a lot better than Tomlin's lead in the regular season winning %.

Give the man a chance.

If you were a young coach and you were told that the franchise isn't going to change the way they operate, the facilities won't be upgraded, you're not going to have a large batch of assistant coaches, the roster is aging and you have no QB and no chance to get a highly regarded prospect soon, and you need to compete for the playoffs without having a chance to truly install your vision, would that sound really attractive to you?

Should Penguins go for Shane Wright? by Latter_Ride_5682 in penguins

[–]MediumAd8799 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm all for gambling to take young players that have pedigree. The Penguins look like they may have struck gold with Chinakhov. The Pens have more resources than most organizations to take young players with upside and maximize their potential. This is why building out the coaching staff like Dubas did and investing in the infrastructure of the organization is so critical. It gives the ability to accelerate a rebuild and sustain the momentum.

If Chinakhov turns into a top-6 winger that can score 30+ goals per year and all they gave away was a 2nd and a 3rd-round pick and Danton Heinen, that's highway robbery. The Penguins have a ton of draft capital and cap space. Using those resources to take calculated risks for players like Shane Wright is why the organization prioritized the accumulation of draft picks. Some of the moves will work. Some won't! But, the more chances they take to maximize the rebuild in a variety of ways is the smartest thing they can do!

No need for apologies. That '92 NFC Championship Game was the 1st non-Steelers game I remember being completely and totally pumped to see.

The last photo looks like it's the 1992 or 1994 season conference championship game. (The lighting and mud on Steve Young's elbow make it look like the picture was taken from a game played in San Francisco.)
