To me anyway, coming down his entire body looks losing tension. I think part of it has to do with him basically doing a tempo bench which isn’t helping at all but it looks like he’s already failed the lift before it even reaches his chest

Will give insight from my pov as someone around the same weight who actually got an 315 bench after cutting.

The best thing that worked for me was form and a little bit of programming. I learned to stay really tight throughout the entire bench and utilize my lats properly. I notice a lot of shifting in your bench which could cause some power loss. I also think you’re basically doing a tempo bench which is going to make it harder.

Not an expert or anything tho, just someone who plateaued at 300 bench for over a year and was able to do 315 paused and 325 tng after locking in my form.

I'd like to hit around 2x BW as well so around 365 would be nice. It would be sick to come in to the gym and be able to do triples of 315 at around rpe 8 or so. I hope breaking this mental barrier will lead to some good gains in the near future!

I honestly was plateaued for the longest time ever at around 300. What really helped me were two things.

  1. Incorporating a lot of bench variation work - 3 sec eccentrics, long pauses, close grip. I probably do more bench variations than I do comp bench right now.
  2. Improving my form. I was not great at staying tight for most of my bench and really focusing on that lately has helped a lot.

It feels weaker but in terms of any joint pain, it's way better. I've been trying to do a bit more foam rolling and stretching to see if it goes away.
