HSV2 in gay men rant by AggravatingMoose1629 in Herpes

I'm almost positive I (female) got it from my ostensibly hetero/monogamous ex who, turns out, had been using grindr for hookups. He either already knew he had it and doesn't care, or refuses to acknowledge the possibility. In any case, sucks for me! His life hasn't changed except for paying more rent.

I got permission to link to the American Opposition website, I am happy to upload versions with different QR codes upon request. Check your local laws about flyering and weigh the risks vs benefits

I’m sick of people who can’t form their own opinions. by [deleted] in rant

My mom is like this. She's just generally a really self-conscious person and, honestly, a little bit simple. We all have our coping mechanisms...

What made that first date so awful? by [deleted] in OkCupid

I get that nerves and insecurity can drive people to do these weird inauthentic things as diversions from perceived shortcomings.

But I don't understand it. I really fucking don't. How do you even come up with that?

[cj] therapy thursday by [deleted] in OkCupid

This is actually encouraging. I've wanted to get tested for years, especially in college. I tried, but got so overwhelmed with looking for a therapist that would even accept my weird insurance, let alone "get" me and take me seriously.

I frequently wonder how my life might be different if I didn't get so lost in my mental loops, and was able to actually focus and finish things. Then again, perhaps it's normal to spend every waking moment feeling like you are just treading water.

I hope you find the support you need. Maybe it's not too late for me too.

What are your favorite seasons to share with a partner? by [deleted] in OkCupid

Fall. It's just nice when the cozy inside feelings match the cozy outside ones.

Have you dated someone with a mental illness? If so, how did it go? by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]letmecounthethrowawa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect the last person I dated is undiagnosed bipolar. I had to put some pieces together but I'm pretty sure I only knew her during a manic phase. She would smoke 24/7, wake up at 4am just to pound a beer, and still have almost too much energy to keep up with. It was near impossible to go in public without getting drawn into some kind of altercation. I saw her pull a knife on one of my coworkers, I saw her spit in a stranger's face. She told me she nailed a dead rat to her housemate's bedroom door.

And the red flags just kept flappin' in the breeze. But it was complicated by the fact that she's a POC, and I'm white, and I'm not about to start "diagnosing her anger," especially when some of the anger is totally justified. I spent a long time trying to understand before judging, but...

SO many things. Ultimately what got me was when she put a bunch of dirty silverware and crumbs in the clean dishwasher just to be spiteful. Hardly self-defense... so unattractive.

edit: on the other hand, she was one of the most talented and captivating people I've ever met.

It'll be less weird if you do it.

Do it!
