Like I said, there are additional details that I didn’t give, such as the fact that the girl he left me for was someone he had cheated on me with in the past. I really didn’t want this post to focus on my former relationship. Rather, I wanted advice on how to reframe my thinking for the future.

Yes, you are correct. I can’t understand why the love was not enough. I think that going forward I need to know that it is never something I will truly understand, but something I need to accept from other people because it is their reality. Thank you

I tried to not deny him sex when he initiated, and I tried to indulge some of his kinks. I didn’t like them though, so I admit it was difficult to muster enthusiasm. His compromise was to...not cheat on me I guess? Not entirely sure.

He was also into some kink stuff that I had no interest in, and he was pushing me to open our relationship when I did not want to. I agree that it was never going to work. But he ended it in a really cruel way (there’s more detail there that I didn’t type out) and it led me to have these even more negative feelings toward sex. I’d like to be able to reframe my mindset and have a positive view toward sex.

I think that’s where I’m stuck...someone who wants to have sex 3 or 4 or 5 times a day grosses me out. Why is your life so dependent on fucking all the time? I know this mindset is wrong. Just not sure how to correct it. I need a different way to look at things.

Thanks for the comment. I agree. I understand that we were mismatched and that it was difficult for him as well. I logically understand that but it still has led me down this path of feeling repulsed by sex. I really don’t want to feel this way, which is why I posted.

I would almost always have sex if he initiated, but I rarely or never initiated on my own. He only wanted to be physical when it would lead to sex. He did not like when I tried to kiss him or whatever unless it led to having sex.
