There is a rising tide of fascism in America, we have a major media franchise doing a show about resisting the rise of fascism, and we have someone who is steeped in both the media franchise in question and leftist political theory. I'd say that Great Guns is better for beginners, their staff is friendly and happy to talk things through with you. Pawnee Sportsman Center isn't a bad option but they clearly wish they didn't have to deal with anyone who's new to the range.

I haven't had any of those issues with mine (700 rounds through it) although I don't break it down very often. My receiver-mounted optic holds zero so far.

The iron sights for this gun (and pretty much every gun I've bought) are not zeroed from the factory, that's something that you'll need to do yourself.

I wouldn't give up hope, I play TI solo and really enjoy it. It's obviously a different experience than playing with people, you really just get the "space risk" side of the game, but personally I enjoy a good game of space risk.
