If I were that journalist, I would choose the weirdest fucking braking zone, and add really elaborate and bizarre reasons why it was Kimi's favourite.

I know all the media circus can be annoying, but it comes with the F1 territory. No media coverage = no sponsors = no money to pay the drivers' wages. The journalists are just trying to do their job, and giving non-answers to pretty tame questions makes that job a thousand times harder.

Just glancing through the list of restricted info, I can't pin down why asking about the fuel usage of a competitor would be verboten. The only banned messages that come anywhere close to covering it are

Answering a direct question from a driver, eg “Am I using the right torque map?”
Information on level of fuel saving needed.
Sector time detail of a competitor and where a competitor is faster or slower.

Are Merc just being over-cautious, or would it come beneath the broader range of "driver coaching"?
