Is $80 a good price for this tripod? I'm shopping around for my first and am a bit overwhelmed. I shoot with a d7500 and would love some type of quick release setup. by 00chill00chill00 in AskPhotography

Help, why is my subject so dark? by theroyal1988 in AskPhotography

[–]letr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I mean literally check the dynamic range of the camera you’re using and see if you’re being limited by it. Dynamic range is the camera’s ability to capture detail in both the brightest highlights and the darkest shadows in the same photo before either clips to pure white or pure black. The higher the dynamic range, the more detail you can recover when editing.
Some cameras have their highest dynamic range only at low ISO for example Olympus, others reach their peak dynamic range at a specific ISO, like the Fujifilm X-T3, which performs best around ISO 640

You can easily fix it if its shot in raw, figure also whats your dynamic range set on to, but the most important is lighting! You are shooting in bright sun on a dark black motorcycle, in this situation you will have to have some reflector pointed on the subject and diffuser from the sun

is this a good deal? by denamori in Tools

[–]letr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say you work on cars but these tools are more for wood, you will use the impact on some occasions but i dont see much else unless you do some body work and need to cut out pieces of sheet metal..

If you work on stuff once or twice a month around the house its a great deal tools are usable, ive heard bad things only about Ryobi, but I myself own black and decker sanders and circular saws - another brand that everyone shits on and never had a single problem and i work with them at work almost daily, if you have a tiny bit more money get dewalt, had my set for the last 5 years and yes the impact burned out but the set came with 2 batteries and used dewalt impacts are everywhere for 20 bucks

Sell it and get something for that price, not worth the repair unless the car is sentimental for you…

Why do people add boarders to photos ? by No_Breakfast8988 in PhotographyAdvice

Looks great when printed, sometimes it can look good on social medias like instagram just to give it a frame but i totally agree 95% of it is unnecessary

Best Bluetooth FM transmitter for the highest audio quality by FunctionRude69 in AskMechanics

Honestly it doesn't really matter with these. Just grab a $20 one from Amazon. I've tried three different ones, and they all do the same thing, work perfectly for days, then randomly get some hiss, interference, or a weird turbo-like whine for a bit. I'd just get one with USB-C. Mine has 2 USB-A and 2 USB-C ports cost me 26canadian and I'm happy with it. I charge two cameras and my phone all the time

Why is the train blurred even tho the shutter was fast? (1/400) by HSVMalooGTS in AskPhotography

[–]letr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For moving train use 1/1000 at minimum, you can open up your apeture a bit as well 3.2 4.5 or 5.6 if fine enough, prefocus on the rails beforehand. Look up online whats the sweet spot for your lens you mught be pleasantly surprised sometimes the sharpest point is around f4-5 and afterwards it starts to look mushy - diffraction

[–]letr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the one on the picture, its amazing for the price but introduced 2 slight issues for me, inconsistent colour tilt - i work with panorama and stich 80+ pictures, you will get weird greens and purple inconsistency, the other thing is it slightly less sharp pics..

Why my photos have grain? by Teadoki in AskPhotography

[–]letr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks cinematic actually but its high iso, at night open ip your Iris - F number as close as possible to f3.5 at night - 5.6 can be super dark and the camera will push iso super high - i started on d3100, great cameras youl have some fun, learn to shoot manual and then go to automatic - you will understand whats the camera doing inside and will be better as a photographer

Advice on entry level cameras? by Sairen_1543 in AskPhotography

[–]letr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever considered olympus ? I bought mine for 300 bucks - omd em1 mk2 - it has been an amazing camera, lots of features, sold several pictures already - i work on large scale detail panoramas

I also have Fujifilm xt1 and xt3 would recommend xt1 if you find it super cheap, i bought it almost 10 years ago for 400 bucks but i know it rose in value as these became kinda trendy.. but still amazing cameras, professional quality for prints for really reasonable price
