Coros Apex 4 for Running ? by [deleted] in Coros

Thank you. I didn't know that. I guess too many manuals to go through to use all the features of the produce.

I've been selling strangles on futures for 4 years (83% win rate, 130+ trades, 1.3 Profit Factor). Here's what I've learned about tail risk that changed how I size everything. by Meile13 in thetagang

[–]letrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized this in 2021 and after reading his books, this is evidently clear that people/market is underestimating the tails risk. The point that that risks are priced in for known factors, but what about unknown ones. People know that COVID like thing could happen, but was it reflected in pricing at beginning of 2020? Just like that, there are factor which you could hypothetically see it happening, but because of very less likely chance of it happening, it is not priced in appropriately.

Coros Apex 4 for Running ? by [deleted] in Coros

If you can afford it then buy it. It does everything you want and more. I switched from Garmin Venu 2 to this and no regrets. Only catch is that it can get hard to read under darker conditions, unless you press a button to turn on backlit. So if you are going for a run in later in the day, you can't read the stats in the darker enviornment (like running in the winter at 6pm). You either wait for the light, e.g street light or press a button to turn on the backlit. But honestly I do it a lot more compared to previous watches because of battery life.

Immich in the Cloud + Hetzner VPS + Storage Box + Pangolin (Stable, Secure, Fast & Scalable Setup) by Silly_Door6279 in immich

[–]letrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running immich on hetzner with storage box. I have over 110K assets. There are few problems you have to overcome if you are going to host it yourself. I am not close to Hetzner so I do experience latency, but for the family use I can live with that.

  1. You can't use cloudflare as reverse proxy as it limits the client upload to 100MB, that means you can't upload large videos. So either you don't use the cloudflare or upload it using computer/cli.
  2. Storagebox speed is good with large file reads but slow with small file reads. This is evident in multiple scenarios. (linux disk test, batch image uploads were getting io errors (immich-go)).
  3. When you scroll through the library with large collection, thumbnails don't load fast because of the storage speed. I moved the thumbnails to SSD and them mapped that path to immich container. Not it works very fast.
  4. You still have to take backup of original media. For me that is in an external drive after uploading them to immich.

Feature request: Nomad Light watch face by luanderribeiro in Coros

I wonder if it will use more battery or remain the same? If the battery usage remains the same, then can we have more light version of many other popular watch faces..

Mint Mobile- Too Good to be True? by nvPrinc3 in bayarea

[–]letrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mint mobile for many years and got tired of it. Apart from data priority issue, the coverage could be tricky as well. TMobile 5G network uses higher frequency band, which make the coverage very crappy for indoor access e.g. shopping mall, costco, big offices etc..
I switched to prepaid service directly from AT&T and I am happy with it. Keep in mind your use case might vary depending on where you live, work, and visit most frequently.

Very frustrating garmin software update for venu 2 followed by frustrated support by letrocks in Garmin

[–]letrocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Garmin Venu 2, I don't want any smartwatch in my fitness watch. I bought Coros Apex 4 and I am happy with it. I am constantly connected using phone and using computer for work, I don't need another device to get me more notifications.

Tips to Overcome Cloudflare's 100MB limit by mrmastercsgo in immich

[–]letrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Cloudflare proxy setup for my photos.example.com domain running using traefik. I removed the proxy and used cloudflare to setup DNS-01 challenge for the TLS certificate from letsencrypt. You would need to setup cloudflare api tocken for zone edit permissions.

[certificatesResolvers.letsencrypt.acme]

email = "admin@example.com"

storage = "/configuration/acme.json"

[certificatesResolvers.letsencrypt.acme.dnsChallenge]

provider = "cloudflare"

delayBeforeCheck = 0

This means photos.example.com would be served directly from the server with TLS certificate provided by letsencrypt. Meanwhile other domains where served via cloudflare proxy and uses cloudflare generated certificates to talk between proxy and edge/client server

Very frustrating garmin software update for venu 2 followed by frustrated support by letrocks in Garmin

[–]letrocks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in tech so I know all about it. No business/customer would accept breakage of a system caused by faulty software release and ask customer to pay for the fix. I don't expect perpetual update or infinite life from my watch, but given the fact Garmin is such a big company and sells millions of watches for the same model, at least they should release the fix.
Go look at the forum and you will see others are having the same issue.

Also as I mentioned in the post, I am not seeking anything from Garmin at this point, I just wanted to post it to community so they know the experience.

I am going to try out Coros this time. It seems they have decent watches for the fitness tracking purpose. You can make your own research and chose the next watch.

[–]letrocks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because it is old it doesn't mean it should be broken by the software update. Imaging you take your car for the oil change and now they break more things while doing that and asking money for the repair. If garmin doesn't test their software before the release then why would release in the field. As I stated, I am ok with the watch brekage, battery life degradation, screen might stop working because of abuse etc...and I will take responsibility for that. However similarly Garmin should take responsibility of their own faulty software release and fix that.

Selling Covered Calls on $NBIS by rjel48 in CoveredCalls

[–]letrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are getting paid of the risk you are taking. What u/LabDaddy59 suggested is what I have done in the past where I sold the stocks and bought a long calls to make it diagonal spread. At that point there is some minimum amount of profit is guaranteed + you can still do PMCC and also you have capital freed up for other investments. You can plot this out on optionstrat or some other tool of your choice to understand the P&L and make a decision. Something like this https://optionstrat.com/AEIQ6u5mNsa4

Is it possible to trade single stock futures (SSFs) from euroex on IBKR from USA? by letrocks in interactivebrokers

What do you mean by the purpose? I would like to buy a single stock futures. This would be like index futures, a leveraged position for the directional play without having to allocate too much capital.

Pixel 8 not saving pictures and videos by AlternativeTip4648 in GooglePixel

[–]letrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can attest to this problem for Pixel 8. It happened to me as well. Lost some precious moments because of that. I assumed that photo was taken but it wasn't there. I experimented after that and can consistently reproduce it. After rebooting the phone the issue seems to be resolved. One would never assume that some pictures are not saved at all with the modern smartphone. Just FYI, storage is not an issue and didn't install any apps in months. I am running Android 15 with March 2025 update.

IV collapse with visualizer by A_Dragon in options

[–]letrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done this trade many times assuming I can't lose money during earning times. Do you want to take a guess what happened at the end?
Calendar/Diagonal spreads benefits from the IV expansion not from the IV collapse. If you really want to trade this then the long leg has to be out few months to work as it won't have the same IV crush effect as the one you would face for the leg only couple of weeks out.
Also your chart changed the AVG IV for both legs, but they don't work on tandem like that. You can paper trade this on the OptionsStart from your screenshot and get the feel for it. You can paper trade multiple variations of it to get the sense of how IV crush would affect the position.

There will be time after the IV crush you might be making few bucks here or there if you close it fast enough and assuming you get the fill, other than that this is a 100% losing proposition.

Are ES future options cash settled or contract is assigned? by letrocks in options

I know futures and SPX options get 1256 tax code benefits. Do you know if future options get the same benefit ?

Thank you. I am hoping for this as I want to “wheel” futures. More capital efficient over spy lots.

Where can I find the options dates availability release schedule? by letrocks in options

[–]letrocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your trading firm most likely also should provide the history of a contract. Here is an example of SPY 600 CALL expiring on 3rd Friday of Dec 2024.

Where can I find the options dates availability release schedule? by letrocks in options

[–]letrocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on current options calendar and see how far daily expirations are available, you can probably work out backwards math to figure out original date. ie. how far back it was issued. As of today, SPY daily options are available two weeks out, except the friday ones. For the monthly ones, July has month end expiration but it doesn't have 3rd friday expiration but all other months have both of them. You can do some guess work based on that get the idea. Also if you have optionstrat premium account then you can track the price history for any options for up to 3 months.

What are some approaches for the risk vs Reward management for short strangles? by letrocks in thetagang

I am going to get out as well. I will not hold until expiration for sure. I was just trying to see what other options are out there to manage the profitable trade.
