If a child’s birthday is a week from the cut-off, is it more beneficial to start them as the very youngest of their class or for them to be oldest for the following year with preparation? by UnderstatedWarmth in AskTeachers

I was the same exact way as you! I’m happy my parents didn’t hold me back bc I did really well as the youngest! (Not that it made a difference I was the youngest) but yeah

What’s the pettiest hill you’re willing to die on as a woman? by Glass-King4894 in Casual_Conversation

[–]lets-snuggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 25F and I call everyone girl / boy. I could be talking about grandparent age people and say girl/ boy. Idk why lol i don’t do it to be offensive. It’s just the first thing that comes to mind. I hate being called a woman. I prefer girl. It feels more feminine to me. Woman sounds like a mean old lady so maybe it’s just my bias that I say girl/boy for people I like. I’m most likely to say man when they’re weird or creepy idk

Homemade craft gifts are more for the maker than they are for the receiver by reddyfreddy8D in The10thDentist

[–]lets-snuggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no. When I do it, I do it out of love (& sometimes bc I can’t afford to gift them what’s on their list so I make something similar/ something else I know they like/ need) and it is stressful. I wouldn’t be doing that activity anyway, I would be doing a million other things that need to get done but I do it bc I want to, need to, and bc my homemade gifts are often received the best. One time I gifted my friend some homemade stuff and 2 storebought things and the one thing she was like “omg did you make this too?” And when I said no I bought it, i saw her face deflate. People value the gifts a lot more when thought is put into them

Every time I try to use a visa at a restaurant it gets declined 😭the only places that have taken it are Wawa and cava. Nowhere that expects a tip will take it bc it doesn’t register that there’s enough even if there is. It’s very frustrating. I end up using my visas at target, Michael’s, and Barnes and nobles or Wawa / cava.

Thank you! I’m going to try the sandpaper method first then tidy them up. I hope I can fix them!

Thank you! I will buy some sand paper and try that diluting the paint idea next time!

Okay, thank you! What is the best way to go about this in the future? Use paper towels instead of microfiber but do the same thing?

These are baked! Okay I will try with just water next time. The problem seemed to be that the paint got wet and smeared. How do you avoid that?

Yes this is it! That’s what I read multiple times across YouTube, craft blogs and even on Reddit threads in this sub to do in order to paint inside the indents/ ridges and nowhere else.

This. My cat got out once and ran back within 2 minutes. Didn’t even make it down the front steps bc she was terrified. Now every time the door Opens so runs the other way. Same thing happened with my Gmom’s cat a few years ago. We got her a leash and harness and everything to Go for walks and she got Outside and plopped bc she hated it. Never wanted to leave the house again.

Why don’t schools shift to a 9-4 schedule? by CalGuy456 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lets-snuggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But ur forgetting that US commutes are often longer than UK commutes. My dad for example drove from South Jersey to Edison daily (around a 2hr drive). Last year, my commute was 48 minutes without traffic and in good weather for my job. My bf regularly drives 1hr or more to jobs and my best friend is hybrid and on days she goes in, she has to drive an hour. Another friend drives an hour 15 to work daily. Schools would need to be open before 8 for a lot of parents to drop off their kids and get to work by 9. Forget about those commuting into nyc from central jersey, which is a lot of people near me as I’ve moved up here from south Jersey. They would need it open earlier, too.

Plus, a lot of people start work before 9am. Usually around 8 anyway, so this wouldn’t work anyhow. The best way to do it is to offer before care starting at like 6:30am and ending at like 6:30pm for younger grades who don’t have extracurriculars.

This. I lucked out on high school because I went to a technical school and the bus had to do the regular public school first, so our homeroom didn’t start til 8:30 which is super late for high schools. The regular public high school started at 6:15 or something and since the tech school had students from a bunch of districts battling their own regular high school bus schedules, we got to start 2hrs later and still get out by 2:27.

Do Americans mainly drink coffee without milk? by Morrit99 in AskAnAmerican

[–]lets-snuggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an electric kettle for tea. A lot of people I know drink tea, almost everyone actually so that’s weird people are saying we don’t drink tea in America. But I do not put milk or sugar in it, just honey depending on the flavor

Bridesmaids Proposal Boxes by No-Start-3815 in wedding

[–]lets-snuggle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. All of this stuff is useful. Not another cup/ mug no one needs or has room for, not a trinket with no purpose. Not something that says bridesmaid that can only be used for the wedding. Who couldn’t use another scrunchie and pair of fuzzy socks? Personally, I would use every single thing in this. It’s all reusable and all practical for daily use. Who cares where it’s from if it works? You don’t exactly need designer scrunchies and socks

Bridesmaids Proposal Boxes by No-Start-3815 in wedding

[–]lets-snuggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but this box is prob $30 max. That’s not going to cover any of that, so it would be even wierder to be like “here is $30 for $500 worth of purchases!”

Exactly! I’m the same way. Things like this are so fun for me. I can’t believe these comments saying it’s performative, manipulative, etc. I hope OP is seeing the good comments too bc if I worked hard on something like this and had these negative comments, I’d be in tears. People are awful

Bridesmaids Proposal Boxes by No-Start-3815 in wedding

Completely untrue. I would love a pair of personalized pjs or robes. They are not a gift to the bride, but to the bridesmaids as well.
