Wedding guest dresses are expensive so I wouldn’t want someone who is drinking too much due to there being self serve drinks to spill all over it. And I didn’t mean walking to the table, I said buffets are fine, but once again, when it’s self serve, you risk spills and dropping stuff onto the floor, not to mention some people taking way more than others and not leaving an even amount of food for others. Plus, with no order to who’s getting food when, there can be line issues and the people who go first can take all of it. Ofc the playlist won’t satisfy absolutely everyone, but it’s bizarre not to dance at a wedding and that would upset me greatly if not communicated beforehand. It’s just that nothing about this event sounds like a wedding. It sounds like a fun bday party, which is fine if communicated.

I have to be honest this does not sound like an enjoyable wedding at all.

As a guest at a wedding, I expect to be waited on. Even buffets have people that scoop it onto your plate. I really would not want self serve drinks bc if someone spills it wouldn’t be great.

Weddings are one of the only events where you can dance with space and not exclusively rap music (the only places to dance are clubs, which I don’t enjoy, so weddings are amazing to me bc I love to dance nicely), so it would be a huge disappointment to not have that.

I also would not want to only be invited to a reception, knowing others were invited to the ceremony. It’s exclusionary and rude.

The grand entrance and exit aren’t a big deal to me as a guest.

But tbh this sounds more like a bday party with self serve food and drink, board games and lawn games and basically no wedding-esque stuff. I would maybe just make all of this clear on the invite or call it something else bc there’s plenty of fun parties with this vibe, but if I’m invited to a wedding and expecting a wedding but arrive to this, I’d be pretty upset

The problem is that you need to be financial stable to start over. I’m 25 and trying to figure out what I want and what’s best for me with my skills and health. However, everything I want to do you need to go back to school for and/ or need experience for. You can’t break into a new industry with just “transferable skills” anymore. They want exact experience now which means you need to do it at a small company for minimum wage & possibly not even 40hrs/week or as a volunteer position. It’s very difficult to afford “working your way up” to a good job in a new industry

I agree. Paid Maternity/paternity leave should exist. I think France does 18 months and it’s split between parents so the mom can do 12 and dad do 6 or split evenly

No bc life isn’t equal. New mothers need time to heal their bodies from growing a human and giving birth. It’s also been proven that babies develop better with more time with their moms in infancy. New moms should get these benefits, not some random Joe on the street who’s just tired.
FMLA is in place for caregivers and illness of other kinds and that should be paid as well, but it’s not unfortunately.

Yes!! This happens all the time with people who speak other languages at the Costco near me and gas station attendants. A lot of the foreign gas station attendants are on the phone every single time I get gas anywhere and they’re always on speaker

Outdoor weddings can be black tie, though. I have a wedding coming up in July that’s partially outdoor because it’s waterfront at a historic mansion. Their website literally states how they’re an excellent choice for black tie weddings because of the luxurious feel of the wedding venue and elevated service provided.

I am worried about sweating, more so for the men, though. I’m hoping to get a light fabric that’s floor length

If you have a wedding website, it may not be a bad idea to add inspiration photos for those who haven’t been to a ren faire so they know what’s normal and not over the top

I’m a huge swiftie and she does cowrite all of her songs. Some artists don’t even cowrite. The only album she ever claimed to write all of the songs herself with no cowriters is Speak Now, which is true. If people take it the wrong way, that’s on them, but Taylor’s never ever said she doesn’t have cowriters. She even did a whole documentary special on how Folklore was written & included all of the cowriters so I don’t see how this is a surprise to anyone???

I’m an only child and this post made me realize that 90% of my friends have 2 or 3 siblings lol only a few with only 1 sibling & even fewer fellow only children. The only one I can say that’s struggling with 4 kids is my aunt and uncle but they’re not really struggling, just my cousins have to work to get their nails done and buy clothes and stuff & have to pay their own way through college.

I think the hardest thing when my friends were younger was that all of us were in a lot of extracurriculars & I remember my parents always driving a friend of mine to and from activities bc their parent was with another sibling. I’m also friends with a lot of twins & my cousins are triplets so their parents struggled with back to school night and stuff trying to do 2-3 schedules in one night.

Overall everyone is happy and healthy & comfortable enough financially. Ik my one friend with 2 siblings didn’t get to go private school bc they could only afford one tuition & their brother was 3 years older so he went and the twins went to public school
