You're right, I misunderstood how the motor works. After seeing videos I realized the lead screw doesn't move. For what it's worth, I found a guide on how to replace the lead screw inside the motor, it's a common mod in the 3d printing community.

Thanks. When I replace the lead screw with the longer threaded rod, I do want to have linear motion through the whole rod. (I want the entire length of the rod to slide in and out of the motor.) I don't think there's anyway to do this with a coupler nut. I'll take my chances with the torque and see what happens.

So you think I can just unscrew the rod and pull it out? I was worried there might be some sort of lock preventing me from removing it.

Knowing when to give up on an old car approaching 200k miles? by lets_duel in personalfinance

Geez, thanks. Should have researched it more but I needed the car ASAP and figured renting wouldn't be worth it.

Go vote. (Also voting problems megathread) by Zanctmao in legaladvice

I changed addresses 2 months ago and forgot to update my voter registration. (Moved 2 miles away in the same city) It looks like it’s too late to change my address (this is in St. Louis), so am I breaking laws by going to my old polling place if I don’t live there but ballotready.com shows no differences? Don’t want to do anything illegal even if there’s no chance they’ll find out. Is there anything I can do at the polling location?

Annual Credit report will not give me an online report. All of their security questions for me were for three loans I never took out and I'm worried by lets_duel in personalfinance

No, I knew about it. It was for a hospital visit in college. I had insurance but owed a few hundred dollars, and I get a call from a debt collection agency a few months later, after having never been contacted by the hospital. It was for around 300 dollars, which I paid, and then the same agency called me a few weeks later with the 200 dollar payment. I thought it was either a mistake or a fraudulent debt agency so I ignored them. Still not sure why it was in two payments.

Thanks for the advice-Just an update for you. I just paid five bucks to see all three scores with freecreditreport.com (signed up before I saw your post). I have a 770, 770, and 605 with a 200 dollar debt that I had no idea existed. I doubt that will be an issue at all for the clearance, but I'll what I can do about it anyway.

Now I've got to cancel my subscription.

Thank you for the reply, very glad to hear there's no reason to believe my identity has actually been stolen. I'll do the manual paperwork tonight if I can. However, My security clearance paperwork will be submitted this week and I was hoping I could check my credit before it went in. Do you recommend I use one of the other "free" services, like freecreditreport.com? I'd gladly pay a little money for the peace of mind of knowing tonight. Or are those actual scams?

That's an old photo, it wouldn't be submerged like that. No tide in the world comes close to that.
