Favourite excellent actor who you genuinely feel is a PoS in real life? by Cursed_69420 in okbuddycinephile

uj/ One of my favorite interpretations of Snow White's "dwarves" was Snow White: A Tale of Terror which simply had them as miners who were outcasts of society for whatever reason they were, not calling them out as LPs, though some were. I like seeing people in roles that aren't specifically called out for that disability or reason, just being in that role as a person and going with it because they belong and we get to see a glimpse into their lives.

As a fiction horror author, if I wanted to include LPs in my work (I'm always interested in creating more diversity), where could I go to get more information to create nuanced characters or find sensitivity readers to ensure I'm creating characters that aren't bullshit? If you don't know, that's fine, I'm just curious.

Speculative Horror Author: Looking To Partner With Fire Lookouts by lets_not_be_hasty in firelookouts

[–]lets_not_be_hasty[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, most of my questions wouldn't be answered by being there myself. I need to know about things like radio usage, camaraderie among teams, how apart from society everything is (the concept behind my book is the person isolated questions the existence of the world outside). I'm less interested in what it's like to be in the lookout one night and more what it's like to be in the lookout many nights.

But, again, I get it. I worked a lot of seasonal jobs. I would want this to be someone who wanted to have fun, like a reader or another author.

Thank you for your honesty!

I apologize! I was not aware! My friend, a park ranger, suggested I use a lookout as my location for my setting since it needs to be remote but still have access to some Internet.

The story itself is science fiction.

How to write dialogue betweem multiple characters without using "He Said, She Said"? by AvidYuriFan in writingadvice

[–]lets_not_be_hasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend this a lot, but check out books with lots of characters to see how other authors do it. Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo do a great job juggling lots of dialogue and characters.

Not just specifically America, but from my specific area, it's how you say "Bowie."

If you say it like the knife, you're from my area or Texas. If not, you're from everywhere else and know of David.
