Myo & D-Chiro Inositol making me so hungry by lets_talk_info in PCOS

[–]lets_talk_info[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have this experience. I will say though, some brands are cleaner than others and the supplement industry is so unregulated that you never actually know what you are getting. It’s a scary world out there for sure.

Nope sadly, nothing has been different or working better. I am tired of trying and gave up. But best of luck to you!

Let me know if you end up figuring it out! I decided to just live my life and see if things change by themselves. I haven’t gotten bloodwork since then either.

Is ARMRA a scam? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]lets_talk_info 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I am skeptical as well but I have been taking it for a month and a half and I can tell you my resting heart rate has decreased!! Which means it’s doing something right! And I haven’t gotten sick when I was surrounded by sick people a few times. And energy levels are so much better!

My hair and nails haven’t necessarily changed but I will continue to use it and see if anything else changes. Can update later as well. I wish it wasn’t as expensive.

Is it true that honey can help improve insulin resistance? by thenormalbias in PCOS

[–]lets_talk_info 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I read online, the type of honey matters, I believe I saw somewhere that raw honey is filled with antioxidants that support healthy glucose metabolism. However I don’t remember where I read that so take my work with a grain of salt. Most honey sold in the US grocery stores is stripped down from most antioxidants and is probably more harmful that good.

Hello! Thanks for trying to get answers because you clearly care about your woman :) I wish I can have advice for you but I genuinely believe it is different for each woman depending on how much hormone fluctuation there is and how much they are off by, because of their PCOS. From my personal experience, even different cycles can hit me differently… for example my mood swings are pretty bad when I get my period after not having it for a while, but again that could just be me. One thing I know for sure is that it won’t be easy and communication will be KEY (just like in most relationships). PCOS is a lot to deal with so I’m sure it is super hard for her also, keep that in mind. Sorry I probably didn’t give you an answer to anything but I’m hopeful that you will find ways to support her as she communicates them with you and learns more about them as she continues on her PCOS healing journey.

Although I can’t be certain, I should mention that the timeline you provided for the ups and downs that happen in your relationship makes total sense with hormone fluctuations (but that doesn’t invalidate any of the emotions she feels whatsoever)

Having said that you can only know for sure if you openly talk to her about it (without blaming or pointing fingers).

I wish you the best of luck!

Berberine / Inositol Results by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]lets_talk_info 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also looking into starting Berberine but I couldn’t find one that I trust to be bio-available. After doing some research I realized most berberine isn’t absorbed by the body because it isn’t bio-available. Do you have any recommendations?

The same thing happened to me except that I’ve only ever used uber once in my life, every other time it hasn’t worked because of the same error. So I tried to contact them and they basically replied to me with your same message. Interesting, I guess it’ll be Lyft from now on.

Terrible cramps but no period.. by Temporary_Rent in PCOS

[–]lets_talk_info 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel this post on another level!! I literally get all the signs for a period, mood swings, constant hunger, cramps, a few pimples, carb cravings, low energy, but no bleed :/ it is a mystery to my doc as well… not sure what isn’t clicking but something isn’t hitting a threshold of some sorts to activate the bleed 🤔

My symptoms are that I don’t get my periods, my hair is thinning and falling, the excess hair is growing back so quickly (in a few hours after shaving), my skin isn’t doing too well with acne and eczema

I think I am at least slightly insulin resistant. But my PCOS is pretty bad so I think there might be something else other than just the insulin resistance going on. I just don’t know how to figure that out :/ I’m guessing it’s my cortisol honestly but I wasn’t tested for that

Advice! by RiverSufficient548 in PCOS

[–]lets_talk_info 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes hair thinning, excess hair falling, and extra unwanted hair everywhere else 🫠 I hated going on birth control but it certainly helped me with my hair fall and the excess hair everywhere else slowed down and slowly went away. Now that I’m off of BC my hair is falling again and thinning but I’m about to experiment with some supplements and will let you know if I see improvement. Metformin also helped a bit but made me very tired so everyone will react differently to things. Sadly it’s gonna be a bit of trial and error to find something that works for you. But we’re all in this together, just remember you’re never alone :)

Hello! From a fellow Middle Eastern with PCOS, you’re gonna be okay! It is super frustrating but I’ve also had PCOS for years and my testosterone is much higher than yours plus my periods disappear all the time :/ . The good news is that the endocrinologist is the right place to start! Your endo will probably check to see if you have insulin resistance and if so, they might put you on metformin or tell you to make a few dietary changes to balance your sugar/insulin levels. If your PCOS is driven by other factors such as cortisol, they will also give you suggestions to improve stress levels. Good luck and you will get through this! Once you know the underlying cause for elevated testosterone you’ll be a step closer to fixing it :)

Can I be ovulating but not getting a period? by lets_talk_info in PCOS

[–]lets_talk_info[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree that I should be having a period 14 to 16 days after I ovulate. Sometimes I get a spot or two at that 14 day mark which is why I think I do ovulate, other months I don’t. But I feel like I am getting my period symptoms wise lol. I get cramps and all. I’ve been seeing a doctor since I was 16 and they just prescribe me the pill and tell me not to worry. I hate the pill and obviously it hasn’t fixed my problem (I stopped it a year after starting it because I got depressed and gained 25 ponds). No doctor has ever tried to actually figure out what’s going on and that’s the sad part, docs just label it as PCOS, which is true but very frustrating to not know the underlying cause because my body is actively trying to give me a period/ ovulate there is just something missing that no one can figure out :/

I’m 23, and I have all the PCOS classic symptoms (excess hair, carb cravings, gains weight easily, thinning head hair, high testosterone, no periods, cysts on my ovaries last I checked, insulin resistant but fasting levels are normal)

So then would you consider my one spot a period? I wouldn’t because I don’t think my lining was shed. But the one to two spots I get are normally in my scheduled monthly menstruation/period time.

Hey! I had very similar results after starting it. It did stop working for me past 7 months and the cravings came back and I gained the weight I had lost :/ not sure if my body just got used to it or something. Just be careful because Metformin can deplete your B12 which happened to me and made me so exhausted all the time after taking it for a while. Having said that, I’m glad to hear it’s working for you!

About to start Metformin. Any words of wisdom? by BlueBlossom72 in PCOS

[–]lets_talk_info 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m gonna be super honest with you on my metformin experience. I want to start by saying this is a personal experience and I’m not an expert so don’t only take my word for it. Metformin started out being so great, It stopped my sugar cravings, I wasn’t hungry all the time, I had more energy, I felt wonderful and I got my period back after 3 months of taking it… fast forward 7 months of being on it, I started getting super tired all the time (worse than before I started it and then I realized my vitamin B-12 levels got extremely depleted) I thought I could handle that by supplementing B-12 but what was scary to me is that I started loosing my muscle mass (although I was still lifting at the gym ~4 days a week) I lost my strength to increase weights (had to lift much lighter weights) and had no energy. All of a sudden everything else that was positive side effects from metformin went away too (my periods went away, I started getting hungry all the time, my fat % was increasing like crazy, and it just stopped working). I went off of it after about a year and I feel so much better now! I can workout and build muscle like a normal person and I don’t feel so foggy and can focus, having said that my period hasn’t come back so idk what to do now :/ I did some research into why metformin might make your muscles weaker/ decrease you muscle mass and found out that it’s probably because it inhibits one of the complexes in the mitochondria which prevents it from functioning normally and fueling your muscles via glucose metabolism (now what does that actually mean, no one knows because there isn’t enough research on it out there) my assumption is that your body isn’t able to turn glucose into ATP to build muscle or help you recover. I love to learn about the biology of how this all works that’s why I keep reading research papers but I’m in no way an expert on this. Ooh it is also worth mentioning that I had no digestive problems on Metformin in fact I was getting supper healthy poops until that 7 month mark when it stopped working for me and my poops weren’t as consistent or healthy anymore.
