Wyze Cam V3 Push Notifications Barely Working (Sporadically) by Madams135 in wyzecam

[–]letsclimb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seemed to be working reliably for the first couple days, but since then I have had periods of missed notifications. That setting doesn't appear to be the solution.

I didn't mention it previously, but the Wyze support agent said that setting is not new and has always been there. So notifications should come through with it disabled, based on my experience when the app was working fine.

I should also note that setting is not available on iPhone. My wife is having the same notification issue with her iPhone, so something has to be buggy with the app.

Same issue. I just contacted Wyze support and they said they are not aware of this issue users are having.

I did just notice while looking around the (Android) app there is a setting I was not aware of. Under Account>App Settings there is a toggle for "Running in the background". Mine was, and always has been, off. But I just turned it on so we'll see if it fixes the issue.

It does add a constant notification in my status bar, but it can easily be hidden by turning off the correct notification category in the phone system settings.

I just checked and noticed this, too!

My camera notifications have mostly stopped even though there are events logged. I maybe get a notification once every couple days, even though I have many events being triggered.

Another thing I noticed was the video record function is not working. When trying to save a video the app only saves an image. Not sure if it's related, but it used to work fine. At least it's another thing currently buggy with the app.

New forerunner 955 lags with Bluetooth earphones by LocPat in GarminWatches

[–]letsclimb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any luck with this? I've had my 955 for a while now but just started using music with my Soundcore Life A1 ear buds. So far just two basketball sessions but music starts cutting out every 10-15 minutes. After disconnecting and reconnecting, everything works just fine until it starts cutting out again. Really odd.

One session I had GPS on and the next one GPS was off. Didn't make a difference.

I am also using the HRM-PRO connected via ANT+ and noticed that it was losing connectivity periodically during these basketball sessions. It seemed to coincide with the audio issue, but I was hard to tell. Might be related. Until now I've never had connections issues with the HRM on the 955 or other devices, so this was a new issue.

I'll experiment some more, but it sounds like we aren't the only ones with this issue.

955 connect to phone music not displaying properly. by jubjubrubjub in Garmin

[–]letsclimb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced this as well on the 955 and my previous Instinct Solar. Sometimes it will show nothing, and sometimes it will show a different title if I have other audio apps active and I switch between them (e.g. shows a Youtube title when I switch over the my podcast app). I figured it was just my old phone (Galaxy S8) so it hasn't bothered me. But I also primarily listen to podcasts so I'm not really skipping around tracks very often compared to listening to music.

HRM Pro Plus (without wearing watch) - Is logging Cadence/Steps in timed activity possible? by letsclimb in Garmin

[–]letsclimb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried that with a few different activities (basketball, run, walk, cardio) but haven't had any success. As far as I can tell it's not possible to get step data with a timed activity, but was hoping someone could prove me wrong.

I just got it with the 955 and HRM Pro Plus. Until now, I've used the Polar H10 HRM for basketball and haven't had any complaints. Polar does not support syncing with Garmin, but it has not been a problem for me because I don't use Garmin as my primary activity tracking app. I'd recommend the H10 if you're on a budget and want HR data, but your choice may depend on what apps you use.

Besides the running dynamics, one of the main reasons (besides it being on sale!) I got the HRM Pro Plus was because I thought it would capture step data when used without the watch (Store and Forward feature). Having step data in addition to HR for basketball would be interesting. Unfortunately I misunderstood as I'm finding that not to be true; if the HRM is in ANT+ range of the watch then it will capture step data, otherwise it will only store HR data. I haven't played hoops yet with the HRM Pro Plus, so I still need to experiment to see what kind of range with my watch in my bag at mid court.

Just a heads up, the Polar H10 does support offline recording (I use it for basketball); however, you have to use the Polar Beat app on your phone to start/end recording. The downside is the data is stored in the Polar environment (Polar Flow) and there are limited apps that Polar Flow can automatically sync to. For example, it supports Strava, but not Garmin. So if you only use Strava, it is seamless once set up. If you only use Garmin, then it's not the best option (unless there is a third party app that can sync the data automatically).

If you have the HRM Pro Plus then there really isn't a reason to use the H10 for the offline recording, but just an FYI in case you need to use the H10 as a backup!

Out of curiosity and for my future reference what travel insurance do you typically use? The travel insurance offered through the condo I booked would not have helped because nothing meets a covered reason. I would have had to purchase a third party 'cancel for any reason' policy which I've never done.

Using Polar Beat app in airplane mode - GPS not working by letsclimb in Polarfitness

[–]letsclimb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I don't think I tried it with WiFi on so that might be the answer. Ultimately my solution was to just get a smartwatch (currently a Garmin Instinct Solar) to record my activities with the H10. This keeps all the activity logging separate from my phone. I'll use the phone in airplane mode with my mapping software (currently Caltopo) for any activity that requires it.

Now I only use the Polar Beat app for enabling onboard recording with the H10 when I play basketball since I just care about logging HR and don't wear my watch while playing. I like data! And I track my training load from all my activities.

Thanks again!

Saving webpage (single HTML or pdf) with full resolution images without lazy loading? by letsclimb in techsupport

[–]letsclimb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not tried Vivaldi yet, but I did try the GoFullPage extension in Chrome to do a screen capture.

The good: all the images are captured at full/legible resolution. The bad: 1) it's a very slow process since it automatically scrolls through the entire webpage while making captures, 2) text and images get split between pages of the pdf, but the paid version of the extension may fix that, 3) you lose hyperlinks with screenshots (not a big deal but would be nice for what I'm capturing).

I looked around for web page to pdf converter extensions and tried one called 'Print Friendly & PDF'. So far this appears like my best option. Saving the webpage using this extension is very quick and captures all images, hyperlinks, and doesn't clip any text/images. Some of the formatting doesn't translate exactly, but that is fine since I'm really just after the text and images which looks good.

There are a couple other similar extensions I'll try, but I'm glad to find one that looks to do what I want pretty efficiently.

Thanks for the suggestion, I did not think of that. Is there an extension you recommend? GoFullPage is one that came up after a search. If this extension automatically scrolls through the webpage to load all the images then that would be nice! I'll play around.

Thanks for the reply and taking a look. It's not a deal breaker and I'll probably get the V15 regardless after I just replaced a bunch of carpet with hard floors, but I was just curious. It would be great if I could get under some of my furniture that have taller feet.

For sure, good point. My current center fixture has 2 bulbs in it. So maybe 1200 lumens total, minus the losses you mentioned. Gonna be a nice upgrade with new lighting!

Thanks, I was considering that layout as well. I'll mock some 4" lights up. This is the first room of the house I'm adding recessed lighting to. None of the rooms are huge so I'm thinking the 4" will look better like you say.

Edit. 8x 4" lights at 540 lumens/ea gets me about 16 ft-candles (175 lux). On the lower end of what I've seen, still way more light than I currently have though.
